SoS: FoMT Van’s Shop Guide (How To Unlock + Full Inventory)

Van is a traveling merchant that visits Mineral Town every week on Wednesday, and every 15th day of the season. You are introduced to his character after offering a total of 30 liked or loved gifts to the Harvest Goddess.

In this guide we’ll cover how to unlock Van’s shops and the special inventory he offers for sale.

How To Unlock Van

The farmer offers a gift to the Harvest Goddess’ waterfall.

The Harvest Goddess is the sprite that lives inside the waterfall next to the Hot Spring. If you bring her a gift, she’ll appear to your character and express thanks or distaste depending on the item.

Great items for offerings include flowers, crops, fruits, and other farm items like Honey.

So how do you unlock Van?

After offering the Harvest Goddess a total of 30 liked or loved gifts over 30 days, she will appear and give you a single White Grass. This action will unlock Van’s character, and he will appear in Mineral Town the next Wednesday that has sunny weather.

His shop will carry unique items, ores, and other collectibles.

Van’s Main Locations

After Van introduces himself to you on his first visit to town, he will continue to visit Mineral Town every Wednesday. He will stay on the Inn’s second floor from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

When Van sets up shop at the Inn, he will sell some ores and collectible records.

Rose Plaza Location

Then on the 15th of each season, Van will also set up a pet shop on the southwest corner of Rose Plaza from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

His pet shop inventory will vary according to the season (we’ve listed his full inventory below).

If the 15th of the season is also a Wednesday, Van will stay at the Inn from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, where he then transfers to his stall in Rose Plaza.

If the weather is rainy or snowy on the 15th, then Van will not appear in Rose Plaza at all.

Van’s Pet Shop Inventory

Van will open his pet shop on every 15th day of the season during sunny weather.

You can only buy one pet at a time. And before you can buy multiple pets, all of your existing pets must be at 8 friendship hearts or more. If you fail to meet those requirements then Van will refuse to sell you a new pet.

Van’s Secret Shop Inventory

On a random day, you may receive a letter from the Harvest Goddess telling you that you won a raffle. The prize for this raffle is an item called Van’s Favorite, which will unlock an exclusive shop with rare, expensive items.

The usual thing that most players will do with a Van’s Favorite is to immediately sell it to Huang for easy money. One Van’s Favorite will sell between 48,000 G and 57,000 G.

However, you could also give the item to Van to unlock one exclusive item from his secret inventory at a time.

For each gift of Van’s Favorite that you give him, Van will offer one of these items randomly, depending on the amount of money that you currently have in your wallet.

What should you do with these rare items?

You can either sell them to Huang (at a loss) or use them for in-game quests, or to unlock various extras or hidden secrets within the game.
