Zenzai is a simple dessert similar to Daifuku that you can make in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. The best time to cook Zenzai is in the Spring because you can obtain most of the ingredients needed for it at the start of the season.
Here’s everything you need to make Zenzai in your kitchen:
Where To Learn the Recipe
Cooking inspiration is something that happens automatically as you make dishes with different ingredients. Once you’ve cooked with an ingredient a certain number of times, you can unlock a new recipe that uses the same item!
To learn the recipe for Zenzai, you need to cook with the following ingredients:
Ingredients | Number of dishes you need to cook |
---|---|
Mochi | 5 dishes |
Adzuki Beans | 20 dishes |
You can also learn the recipe for Zenzai by watching TV on Spring 5th and clicking on the New Year’s Festivities channel. Zenzai will be featured on the 5th episode of the show.
The New Year’s Festivities show will only air once a year during the first 5 days of Spring, but you can always just rewatch the episode next year if you missed the recipe!
Recipe Requirements
Equipment Needed
The equipment needed to make Zenzai can be bought from Jeff at the General Store.
The downside is that Jeff sells his kitchen equipment one by one, in 10-day intervals after you buy the first of Gotts’ house remodeling upgrades.
This means that you can only access the next piece of equipment 10 days after the previous one becomes available for purchase.
Equipment | Availability | Cost |
---|---|---|
Seasoning Set | Immediately after upgrading to the Medium House | 2,500 G |
Cooking Pot |

Ingredients Needed
The recipe for Zenzai might seem simple, but the challenge lies in actually obtaining the ingredients you need.
Mochi is a somewhat rare item in Mineral Town, as you can only get it at the start of the year during every Spring. So when the opportunity arises, make sure to get as much Mochi as you can!

How To Sell Zenzai
Any dishes made in your kitchen can’t be shipped through Zack and the Shipping Bin. However, you can start selling food to Huang once you become friends with him at 4 friendship notes.
To sell a dish to Huang, stand in front of his counter while holding the item. Don’t interact directly with his sprite, as it will register as a gift instead.
Huang will then offer you a price, which you can actually reject for a chance at getting him to bid higher.
The price range for Zenzai is anywhere between 180 G and 270 G.
If Huang offers you 260 G for the item, for example, you can turn him down and try again to get a higher price.
Keep in mind that his bids will never go lower or higher than this defined range, so 270 G is the maximum price you can get for selling Zenzai.
