Francis the Wandering Merchant Guide + Location (Spiritfarer)

Francis the Wandering Merchant with an onion for a head (Spiritfarer)

True to his name, Francis the Wandering Merchant is a “sea facility” that changes location from time to time. So you often need to look for his icon on the map.

His services include selling you common and hard-to-find items, as well as giving daily errands that reward you with resources. You can also earn Glims by selling items to him.

This guide will teach you everything you need to know about the wandering merchant and his floating shop.

Finding Francis’ Location

Francis’ icon on the map

Francis is the only sea facility that has no set location. Instead, he appears all over the map.

Sometimes this means being near you or far away from you, depending on the quest. But you can always locate him via the icon of his onion head on the map.

His jangly music also starts playing whenever your boat is about to pass by him.

All that said, Francis is never hard to locate if you just look for his onion icon on your map.

Shop Items

Despite being a merchant, Francis only sells three items.

This is his full sellable inventory as well as what you can do with each item:

Item What It Does Price
Old Shoe Can be smelted in the Foundry to make Household Glue 16 Glims
Odd Seed Can be planted in the Field to make empty bottles and various Tchotchkes 500 Glims
Empty Bottle Used to catch Lightning in a Bottle 20 Glims

Other than the ones listed above, there’s also the chance of being able to purchase a Mysterious Seed from Francis, which grows into the spirit Stanley when planted. However, this is a rare occurrence.

Selling Items To Francis

Aside from selling things, Francis will also buy from you. This makes his shop a great way to farm for Glims.
