The Orchard functions similarly to the Field and Garden, where you plant seeds in the plots of land inside. You can then:

  • Water the trees whenever the water drop icon appears
  • Make the trees grow faster via a music minigame

Once the fruits are harvested, you can either give them directly to spirits or use them as ingredients for meals. Unlike the Field and Garden, the trees you plant in the Orchard can’t be removed or cut down.

This guide will cover everything you need to know about growing trees in the Orchard.

How To Unlock the Orchard

Alice will ask you to build her cottage before she joins your ship. / Spiritfarer
Alice will ask you to build her cottage before she joins your ship.

Initially, the Orchard can be unlocked by going to Albert’s Shipyard and purchasing the Craftsman Blueprint Station upgrade. This requires:

  • 10 Oak Planks
  • 10 Linen Thread
  • 1,000 Glims

Purchasing this upgrade unlocks the blueprints for the Orchard, along with the Sheep Corral and Windmill. Alternatively, once the spirit Alice is on your ship, she will request for the Orchard via the “Apples and Oranges” request. She will also teach you how to plant inside.

If you don’t have Alice yet, you can find her outside a house in Mount Toroyama (X: -99, Y: 34). She will ask you to corral two sheep and build her a cottage before joining your ship.

You can build more than one Orchard on the ship.

After building the Orchard, Alice will go inside and teach you how to plant trees. Here’s how:

Step 1: Enter the Garden and interact with any of the two plots.

Step 2: Your inventory will then open, and you can pick any fruit seed that’s available. If you don’t have any, you can buy seeds from the Raccoon Shops all over the map.

Step 3: Confirm the seed you want to plant, and make sure to water it whenever the water drop logo appears. Do this until the seed grows into a tree.

Step 4: Once the trees are fully grown, they will start bearing fruit. You can then harvest the fruits and wait for the trees to grow them again.

Note that you can’t cut down any of the trees in your orchard, unless you’re removing the entire orchard itself.

All Plantable Seeds

Here are all of the seeds you can plant in the Orchard:

Step 1: Stand beside any of the tree sprouts and hold the interact button.

Step 2: Stella will start playing guitar, and you need to play the correct notes that come out on the screen.

Step 3: The more notes you hit, the faster the tree will grow.

You can play this song anytime to make the trees in the Orchard either grow faster or bear fruit.
