Summer is the third spirit to join Stella aboard the ship, and much of Summer’s requests center around spirituality and living in harmony with nature.
We’ll walk you through her complete quest line in this guide, with step-by-step screenshots to help you with every request. We’ll also include details about Summer’s characteristics, mood factors, interests, and more.
How To Get Summer
Step 1: Go to Hummingberg and visit the Ability Shrine in the middle of the island. Here, you can exchange two obols (from Gwen and Atul) to acquire the double jump ability.
Step 2: After that, head towards the right and use your double jump to reach a broken leader.
Step 3: Then climb up the ladder and walk towards the right until you find a spirit sitting by a bench beside the ocean. This is Summer, and you can recruit her by simply talking to her.
Summer’s Complete Quest Line
Nature Class
Once Summer is on the ship, she will talk to you and ask for a Garden. This building is built using the blueprint station.
Here’s what it requires:
- 10 Maple Logs
- 5 Lightnings in a Bottle
You can also check our Garden guide for more information.
The request will finish once it’s built.
Jiving Chives
For this next request, you’ll need to head back to Hummingberg to choose from either turnip or carrot seeds to plant in the garden.
Buy at least one packet of the seeds, then head back in your ship’s garden and interact with any of the plots to plant some seeds.
Summer will then introduce you to the “Plantasia Fantastica” music minigame.
During this minigame, you will need to press the correct buttons as they pass by the screen. The more correct notes you play, the faster your plants will grow.
Try the minigame on your new plants and Summer will end the request right afterwards. She will also give you her Obol.
An Old Acquaintance
Summer will talk to you about some nightmares she’s having, and will point you to the location of the Quartz Dragon on your map.
Once at the location, Summer will talk to you at the bow of the ship, and the minigame will begin.
For this, you need to platform on the dragon’s back using double jump and mine all the nodes that appear. All of the quartz nodes during this minigame will only need one hit.
There is no time limit, and you will end up with a good amount of quartz ore after.
The request will end right after the minigame.
Laying at the Ley Line
For her next request, Summer will finally ask for her own lodging in the ship: Summer’s Sanctuary.
This unlocks the blueprint for her room, but to build it you’ll need these materials:
- 12 Oak Planks
- 8 Limestones
Once built, Summer will end this request and immediately start the next one.
The Diffracted Cabinet
Next up, Summer will ask for some gemstones to put in her room and improve her health.
First, go to your blueprint station and get the Crystal Table improvement. Here are the required materials:
- 3 Limestones
- 5 Oak Planks
Once you have the upgrade, it’s time to get the gemstones. These are your options:
- Citrine
- Diamond
- Amethyst
- Hematite
- Opal
If you’re looking to speed through this request, here are the easiest gems to find:
Getting Citrine
For Citrine you’ll need to look for Francis the Wandering Merchant on the map and visit him.
Then head under his errands tab and look for the “Elemental Transmutation” errand. This requires:
- 4 Bright Jellies
- 2 Lightnings in a Bottle
Getting Hematite
For Hematite, look for Francis’ “Sparkle for Days” errand. This one requires:
- 12 Nebula Fabrics
- 4 Quartz
Getting Diamond
For the final stone, make your way towards Hoseki Quarry. This is located near the left side of the Everdoor region.
Once you’re inside the quarry, here’s where you need to go for diamond:
Step 1: Go up two sets of ladders to reach the top.
Step 2: Next, head up left and keep walking until you reach a fork in the route with one going up and the other going down. Double jump to reach the higher route and keep going left.
Step 3: You’ll eventually find a tall pink spirit standing beside a ladder.
Step 4: Climb this ladder, and also climb up next one you’ll see right after it.
Step 5: Once you’re on the third ladder, you’ll see a lantern with its wire going to the right (through the wall). You can see this in the screenshot below.
Jump to where the wire is going into the wall to find the hidden passage.
Step 6: Head towards the right until you find a small space with a chest. Then interact with the chest to get 1 Diamond and 1 Old Painting.
Once you have all of the stones, just go talk to Summer and give her the items from your inventory.
She will then end this request and immediately start the next one.
The Oneness and the Wholeness
For her next request, Summer will ask you to visit the island of Mount Toroyama, located at X: -99, Y: 34.
Once you’re there, you’ll want to head left to enter the mines and make your way to the cliff up top. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do that:
Step 1: Upon entering the mines, head left and follow the lanterns until you find a ledge.
Step 2: Jump up the ledge and head right until you find a ladder.
Step 3: Climb the ladder and then jump up two platforms until you reach the top floor.
Step 4: Once you’re on the top floor, head right again until you find the exit.
Outside, you’ll find Summer standing beside a giant rock.
Talk to her and she will teach you how to meditate (doing this helps you pass time).
After a short animation, you’ll find yourself alone. Now you can jump down from the cliff to find Summer at the dock and head back to the ship together.
A Cold and Dreamless Slumber
After a few in-game days from the last request, Atul will approach you and say that he hasn’t seen Summer around.
You’ll need to head to her sanctuary where you’ll find Summer fast asleep and unable to wake up.
You’ll need to add an HVAC/AC unit into Summer’s Sanctuary to get her to wake up.
So pay Albert’s Shipyard a visit and talk to Albert about Summer. He will then give you blueprints for an HVAC system improvement, and you can find this in your blueprint station.
The improvement itself requires:
- 5 Copper Ingots
- 5 Iron Ingots
- 2 Glasses
- 250 Glims
Once the upgrade is in place, Summer will automatically wake up and the request will end.
A Metastatic Coil
For her last request, Summer will talk to you and mention that another dragon has awoken: the aluminum dragon.
This one is located in the winter side of the Hummingberg Region, so make sure your boat already has the Icebreaker Boat Improvement to get there.
Note: You can learn more about this upgrade in our Boat Improvement Guide.
Once you have the upgrade, simply sail towards (X: -132, Y: 134) and talk to Summer on the Bow of the boat to start the minigame.
“Helping” the Aluminum Dragon is pretty much similar to the Quartz Dragon. The only difference is there’s more platforming involved in this one.
There’s also a whip-like thing that can hit you while jumping, so watch out for that.
Otherwise, just hit the aluminum nodes like you’re mining until the minigame ends.
Once the dragon is beaten, Summer will talk to you and finally ask to be taken to the Everdoor.
So sail towards the middle of the map and guide Summer to the dinghy at the back of the boat.
Then an animation will play showing Stella taking Summer to the door.
After a final hug, Summer will leave and you’ll find yourself back on the ship.
You won’t meet Hades this time, and you can find Summer’s Spirit Flower inside her sanctuary.
Characteristics
During her life, Summer was a close friend of Stella’s, and actually inspired her to become a nurse in the first place.
As for her mood factors:
Summer enjoys getting hugs, eating her favorite foods, shopping for seeds, and hearing Atul play the flute and repair things on the ship.
Summer’s food preferences are:
- Favorite Food: Grain Salad
- Likes: Salads, Desserts
- Dislikes: Non-vegan food (or any food without dairy, meat, or fish ingredients)
When in a good mood, Summer also gives you perks. These include playing music to plants in the garden or shopping for seeds that she will give to you.
She will also teach you to meditate in marked spots, which can help pass the time.
As seen in her requests, Summer will also introduce you to the Quartz Dragon and Aluminum Dragon, which you can use to farm for specific resources.
