Pokémon Platinum Sprayduck: Location + How To Use It

Watering berry sprouts with the Sprayduck (Pokémon Platinum)

You’ll receive the Sprayduck watering can from a woman inside the Pick a Peck of Colors Flower Shop in Floaroma Town.

The Sprayduck is available starting early in the game, shortly after your battle with Leader Roark in Oreburgh City.

Acquiring the Sprayduck

After defeating Roark in Oreburgh Gym for the Coal Badge, your journey will lead you back through Jubilife City and northward into Floaroma Town. This is your earliest opportunity to obtain a Key Item that’s every Berry gardener’s best friend, the Sprayduck.

There are no prerequisites for picking up this Key Item.

From Floaroma Town’s Pokémon Center, head northeast.

Using the Sprayduck

The Sprayduck is a Psyduck-shaped watering can that you can use to moisten the soil of Berries you’ve planted.

By watering Berry plants whenever the soil is dry, you can increase the number of Berries the plant produces.

Using the Sprayduck is simple:

First, face a planted Berry that has dry (lighter-colored) soil and press A. You’ll be shown a message explaining which Berry is planted in the plot.

When asked if you want to water the soil, select Yes.

That’s it; you won’t have to worry about watering the soil again until it dries back up.

Tip: Unlike in past games, you can now move left and right across a row of soil as you’re watering—you won’t need to use the Sprayduck repeatedly on the same plot.

Watering Berry plots isn’t a mandatory part of cultivating Berry plants. However, letting a Berry plant grow to adulthood without watering it guarantees it will only produce 2 Berries per harvest.

When its soil is properly watered and mulched, a single plant can yield 10 or more Berries (depending on the type).
