1 Valor Lakefront—Received from a woman at the Hotel Grand Lake as a reward for finding her Suite Key No

You’ll receive the White Flute from a woman at the Hotel Grand Lake after finding and returning her Suite Key to her.

No Hidden Moves are required to find the Suite Key, and this can be done at any point after defeating Leader Fantina at the Hearthome City Gym.

Acquiring the White Flute

You’ll find the only White Flute at the Hotel Grand Lake, a high-end resort south of the Valor Lakefront.

There are no detailed requirements for reaching the Hotel Grand Lake or for receiving the White Flute. It can basically be done at any point after winning the Relic Badge from Leader Fantina in Hearthome City.

If you’ve been to the Hotel Grand Lake before, you’ve probably met the blonde woman outside the northeastern bungalow.

A short conversation with her reveals that she’s locked herself out of her suite and lost her Suite Key elsewhere on the property.

Naturally, it’s your job to find the lost Suite Key and return it to her.

Reaching the Hotel Grand Lake

You can reach the Hotel Grand Lake one of three ways:

  • Starting in Veilstone City and heading south
  • Starting in Pastoria City and heading east
  • Starting in Sunyshore City and heading west (after defeating Giratina)

Unless you’re already at the end of the game, starting in Pastoria City is probably the quickest option.

So from the Pastoria Pokémon Center, head east.

Continue east and pass through the gate to Route 213.

As you move east, the beach will become a narrow sandbar. When it widens again, head north.

Finding and Returning the Lost Suite Key

You’ll find the Suite Key right next to the Hotel Grand Lake’s reception building.

It’s hidden on a tile directly to the northwest of where you enter the premises. You can use the Dowsing Machine Pokétch app if you need help finding it.

Here’s the exact tile where you’ll find it:

Now it’s time to be a good samaritan by delivering the Suite Key to its owner.

To do so, just head north up the stairs ahead.

White Flute Details and Uses

The in-game description of the White Flute.

The White Flute is an item that increases wild Pokémon encounters by 50%. It has the opposite effect of the Black Flute.

Be aware that this is not a held item; the White Flute only works when used from your Bag, and must be used again after a map transition takes place (such as entering buildings, caves, or other areas).

The White Flute won’t be as useful to most people as the Black Flute, which reduces random Pokémon encounters.

Perhaps the only time the White Flute serves any purpose at all is when you want to train your Pokémon without running around as much. And even then, wild Pokémon spring up frequently enough that this isn’t a problem for most.

Still, it’s a neat holdover from the Gen III games (the Suite Key woman even mentions how the Flutes are only found in the Hoenn Region).
