Finding the Double Team TM in the Safari Zone (Pokémon FireRed)
TM32 Double Team
# Location Repeatable?
1 Safari Zone – On the ground in Area 4 in front of the Secret House No

The only copy of TM32 Double Team is located in Area 4 of the Safari Zone. The TM is on the ground just a few paces down from the Secret House where you get HM03 Surf.

You’ll find the Safari Zone in the heart of Fuchsia City, and the only requirement needed to enter the Safari Zone is the $500 Poké Dollar ticket price. So you can enter and pick up this TM as soon as you reach Fuchsia City.

Note: If you need help with this part of the game then you can check out our Fuchsia City walkthrough for more details on the storyline and what to do here.

Double Team is used to raise your Pokémon’s Evasion stat. Like other Evasion boosting moves, it can be a very frustrating strategy for your opponent to deal with.

Evasion increases by one stage with each use of Double Team, and it maxes out at 6 stages (so it’s only worth using 6 times per battle).

A Pokémon’s evasiveness affects the Accuracy of your opponent’s moves. Here’s how increases in your Evasion stat affect your foe’s Accuracy by stage:

Stage Opponent’s Accuracy
1 x0.75
2 x0.60
3 x0.50
4 x0.428
5 x0.375
6 x0.33

Double Team can be an effective move for any Pokémon that relies upon the stalling strategy. Because increasing your Evasive stat will almost always lengthen the duration of battle due to frequent misses.

Once you’ve used this move once or twice in a fight, Double Team allows your staller to use HP-draining moves like Toxic more effectively.

Note: There are attacks that ignore Evasion and are guaranteed to always hit, such as Shock Wave, Aerial Ace, and Swift. Double Team can also be countered by moves like Haze, Defog, and Odor Sleuth, as they will reset the battlefield and negate any changes to your Pokémon’s Evasion.

But if you have a staller in your party that you’d like to pair with Koga’s Toxic TM, then Double Team is worth picking up once you reach Fuchsia City in your playthrough.
