Where To Get TM32 Double Team in Pokémon HGSS

Outside of Celadon Game Corner in Pokémon HeartGold

You can get TM32 Double Team as one of the prizes at Celadon City’s Game Corner. The TM can be exchanged for 4,000 Coins, and this is the only way to acquire TM32 in HeartGold/SoulSilver.

But there’s also no limit to how many times you can do this, so you can get multiple copies of this TM.

Note: There are two Game Corners in Pokémon HGSS. There is one in Goldenrod City in the Johto region, and another in Celadon City in the Kanto region. Don’t get them mixed up! Celadon City’s Game Corner is the only place that has TM32.

Finding TM32 Double Team

Celadon City will not be available to you until you’ve beaten the Pokémon League. This is because you can only go into Kanto after accessing the Hall of Fame.

If you already have access to the Kanto region, make your way to Celadon City.

It is directly to the left of Saffron City, just past Route 7.

Whether you Fly or walk to Celadon City, you will find the Game Corner near where you enter from.

From the entrance, head left until you encounter the Pokémon Center. If you Fly there, you’ll already be in front of the Pokémon Center.

You will see part of a purple roof to the lower left of the Pokémon Center. That purple roof is actually a part of the Game Corner.

Simply head down through the small gap between the Game Corner and the two green-roofed buildings.

Then, turn left. You’ll find yourself in front of the Game Corner.

You should see a larger building with a smaller building right beside it, which both have purple roofs.

The larger building is the actual Game Corner where you can play Voltorb Flip. By playing and winning games of Voltorb Flip, you can earn Coins.

The small building is the prize exchange area where you trade your Coins from the available rewards.

There will be two counters here. You can trade Coins for items at the left, while you can exchange Coins for prize Pokémon on the right.

The left counter is the one you will want to go to for TM32.

When you interact with the left counter, you will be prompted to choose between two sets of prizes on the touchscreen.

The first is the Technical Machine set and the second is the Held Items set.

You can also see how many Coins you have on the upper right of the top screen.

Select the Technical Machine set.

This should bring up the selection of prize TMs and how many Coins they cost.

Double Team and its price of 4,000 Coins will be shown here. If you have enough Coins, you will obtain the TM after selecting it.

Again, the exchange can be repeated any number of times as long as you have the amount of Coins necessary for the amount of Double Team TMs you want.

You can find your new TM in the TMs & HMs pocket of your Bag.

Double Team is a Status move that raises its user’s evasiveness by 1.

As with all stat-raising or stat-lowering attacks, its effects can be stacked.

Since Double Team makes it easier for your Pokémon to avoid attacks, it is generally a useful move.

There are also many Pokémon that can learn it by leveling up or through a TM, so you will have many options on how you want to use it.

A fast but fragile Pokémon can use it to help improve its chances of staying longer in battle. Some examples would be:

  • Dugtrio
  • Electrode
  • Gengar
  • Alakazam
  • Porygon-Z
  • Yanmega

It can also be used by bulky Pokémon to frustrate their opponents, since they’ll likely be able to tank the few moves that manage to connect. Karen of the Elite Four even uses this strategy with her Umbreon.

Apart from Umbreon, some other examples would be:

  • Muk
  • Ludicolo
  • Slowbro
  • Tangrowth
  • Kingdra
  • Dusknoir

However, evasiveness is still probability-based even with multiple boosts.

This means a fragile speedster spamming Double Team will still run the risk of fainting immediately to a strong-enough attack in the event that it fails to evade.

Pokémon can also get hit by certain moves regardless of how many evasiveness boosts they have. These would be no-miss moves like Aura Sphere, Swift, Aerial Ace, and Magical Leaf.
