All Genesect Drives in Pokémon ORAS (Burn, Chill, Douse, & Shock Drives)

Genesect close-up in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire

There are four Drives in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, and you can obtain all of them from a Street Thug in Mauville City. You’ll find him on the second floor of the city’s interior. All you have to do is bring Genesect with you before speaking to him.

If Genesect holds a Drive, the type of its Techno Blast move will change depending on the type of Drive it is carrying.

In the table below you’ll find a list of all the Genesect Drives and their corresponding types.

Drive Type
Burn Drive Fire
Chill Drive Ice
Douse Drive Water
Shock Drive Electric

Prerequisites

The only requirement to acquire the Drives is having a Genesect, which is typically only obtainable through events or trading in ORAS.

But the fastest way to do this is simply to use cheats to add a Genesect into your game (if possible).

Then in Mauville City, there is a Street Thug who’s waiting for someone with a Genesect. You’ll find him on the second floor through the northeast staircase.

When you speak to the Street Thug while having Genesect in your party, he will give you the Drives one by one.

Obtaining the Genesect Drives (Step-by-Step)

If you have Genesect in your party, here’s where you can find the Street Thug:

Step 1: Fly to Mauville City. Then from the Pokémon Center, take the door to the north to exit the plaza.

How the Genesect Drives Work

The Drives are held items described as cassettes which change the type of Genesect’s signature move Techno Blast. It changes from a Normal-type move to whatever the held Drive’s corresponding type is.

Genesect’s form also alters in the process – the Drive is inserted in the cannon on its back, so its color will change based on the Drive it is currently holding.

Note: Genesect’s form changes are purely aesthetic. It will always be a Bug and Steel type.

Additionally, the Drives cannot be removed from Genesect by item-manipulating moves such as Trick and Fling.

Burn Drive

The Burn Drive changes Genesect’s Techno Blast to Fire-type.

Genesect also turns into its Burn Drive form, which changes the color of the cassette attached to the cannon on its back from orange to red.

Chill Drive

The Chill Drive changes Genesect’s Techno Blast to Ice-type.

Genesect also turns into its Chill Drive form – the cassette attached to the cannon on its back becomes white.

Douse Drive

With the Douse Drive, Genesect’s Techno Blast becomes Water-type.

Genesect also turns into its Douse Drive form, changing the color of the cassette attached to the cannon on its back to blue.
