Where To Get TM38 Fire Blast in Pokémon ORAS

Using Fire Blast in battle in Pokémon Omega Ruby

TM38 Fire Blast can be bought for 30,000 Pokédollars on the fourth floor of the Lilycove Department Store. Both of the clerks on the department store’s fourth floor also sell other TMs.

Fire Blast is a damage-dealing Fire-type move that also has a slight chance of burning your opponent. When a Pokémon is burned, it continues to take damage every turn, and its Attack stat is significantly reduced.

Quite possibly the most popular same-type attack bonus (STAB) move a Fire-type special attacker can learn, Fire Blast’s only downside is its 85% accuracy.

A lot of non-Fire-type Pokémon can also learn it, making it a great coverage move against a wide variety of types. Fire-types have always been one of the best offensive types in the game.

TM38 Fire Blast Location

The Lilycove Department Store is a multi-level PokéMart located on the north side of Lilycove City, a coastal city east of Route 121. If you haven’t been to Lilycove City yet, make sure you’ve first:

Fire Blast is a Special Fire-type move with a 10% chance of burning the opposing Pokémon.

While the Burn chance is very low, Fire Blast makes up for it in raw base power. And unlike Overheat and Eruption’s downsides, Fire Blast’s only weakness is its imperfect but serviceable accuracy.

Burn is one of the best status conditions in the game. Physical attackers who get burned are rendered useless since the damage they deal is cut in half. Bulky Pokémon are easily taken care of by Burn as well, thanks to the amount of HP they lose each turn.

The move Flamethrower can be considered a weaker but more accurate version of Fire Blast. But unlike Blizzard and Thunder, where Ice Beam and Thunderbolt are arguably better in most situations, Fire Blast is definitely better than its more accurate counterpart.

Whereas Blizzard and Thunder only have an accuracy of 70%, Fire Blast’s 85% accuracy is what makes it better. The power-to-accuracy ratio of Fire Blast makes it worth using over Flamethrower. It always has been the bread and butter for any Fire-type Pokémon’s moveset.

Many Dragon-types can also learn Fire-type moves, making battles against Ice-type Pokémon much easier.

A move like Fire Blast has always been a popular coverage move on Pokémon looking to deal with their weaknesses more effectively.

The Burn status condition has two main effects:

First: it inflicts damage every turn until the Pokémon faints. Regardless of the Pokémon’s total HP or Defense stats, it will deal 1/8th or 12.5% of the afflicted Pokémon’s Max HP at the end of each turn.

Second: a burned Pokémon has its Attack stat reduced by 50%. The Attack reduction is only nullified when the Pokémon has the Ability, Guts. However, it still damages the burned target every turn.

Below is a list of other Abilities that interact with Burn:

Ability Name Type Description
Flame Body Ability 30% chance to burn an attacker making direct contact
Flare Boost Ability While burned, Special Attack stat is increased by 50%
Water Veil Ability Pokémon with this Ability cannot be burned

Note: As of Generation 6, Fire-type Pokémon cannot be afflicted with the Burn status condition.
