TM91 is found in Canalave City, and is given to the player by Leader Byron as a reward for defeating him in battle.

Byron uses Steel-type Pokémon that are around level 40. Steel types are weak against Fire-, Fighting-, and Ground-type moves — it is recommended that you take some of these types to Iron Island before attempting the Gym, as this area will provide several levels’ worth of easy EXP and help power your Pokémon up for the battle.

In-depth information on completing Canalave City’s gym puzzle and defeating Leader Byron can be found in our guide here.

If it lands, it also has a 10% chance of lowering the opponents’ Special Defense stat by one stage.

Flash Cannon Move Details
Type Steel
Category Special
Power 80
Accuracy 100%
PP 10 (max. 16)

Flash Cannon isn’t as interesting as some of the other Gym Leader TMs, like Brine or Grass Knot, but it’s one of the game’s very few Steel-type special moves.

It’s also reliably strong, with a base power of 80 and a 100% accuracy stat, though the 10% chance of a Special Defense decrease is a little too low to be dependable.

Tip: When used in a Pokémon Contest, Flash Cannon generates 2 appeal points, plus 2 bonus points if the user acts first in a turn.
