How To Get the Wise Glasses in Pokémon Platinum

You can get the Wise Glasses speaking to an NPC inside the Celestic Town shop at night (between 8:00PM to 3:59AM). The NPC will be wearing glasses and he’s the only one standing around the shop floor.

The Wise Glasses themselves are a Hold Item that boosts the power of special moves by 10%.

Inside the Celestic Town shop is a man who will give you a pair of Wise Glasses if you speak to him at night.

These are one of three types of Glasses items that are obtained by talking to this NPC at different times. The other items are:

The BlackGlasses (Day)
The Choice Specs (Morning)

For the NPC to give you the Wise Glasses, the in-game time has to be between 8:00PM and 3:59AM when you speak to him.

Once you have your game running at that time (you can adjust your game to match that time period), then visit the Celestic Town shop. Here’s how to get there:

Fly to Celestic Town’s Pokecenter and heading north from the Pokémon Center.

Keep moving north until you see a couple buildings with an old man.

Turn westward at the old man NPC.

Turning west at the old man.

Move to the western edge of town, and the shop will be directly in the northwestern corner, beside the small pond of water.

If your in-game clock is reading a time between 8:00PM and 3:59AM, this NPC will hand you the Wise Glasses at no cost.

Note: These are the only pair of Wise Glasses you can get in the game.

Wise Glasses Details and Uses

The Wise Glasses are a Hold Item that boost the power of the holder’s special moves by 10%.

This is not an item that gets a ton of use in-game.

Its small boost applies only to special attacks, and this item is far outclassed by other held items like the Life Orb and the Choice Specs.

The Life Orb provides a 30% boost to all moves
The Choice Specs provide a staggering 50% boost to the holder’s Special Attack stat.

Both of these items come with sizable drawbacks, though:

The Life Orb eats 10% of the holder’s maximum HP every time they use a damaging move
The Choice Specs lock the holder into using only one kind of move until switched out

But if you can strategize around the weaknesses of these stronger items, you’ll be rewarded with much stronger and battle-savvy Pokémon.

The Wise Glasses look like cheap knockoffs in comparison.
