Aurora Veil is a defensive move that can only be used while Hail is active. When used in battle, Aurora Veil halves the damage taken by the user.
Aurora Veil lasts for five turns. If the user is holding a Light Clay, Aurora Veil’s duration will be extended to eight turns instead. Aurora Veil’s effect will remain active even after the user switches out.
When used in conjunction with an Icium Z, Aurora Veil turns into Z-Aurora Veil. While retaining Aurora Veil’s base effect, Z-Aurora Veil will also boost the user’s Speed stat by one stage.
Tip: The moves Defog and Brick Break remove Aurora Veil’s effect. Pokémon with the ability Infiltrator can bypass Aurora Veil’s effect.
Aurora Veil is a very popular move in competitive play. Aside from being a must-have in Hail teams, Aurora Veil can also be used in other strategies.
Aurora Veil gives hyper-offense teams a huge defensive boost. The move buys enough time for sweepers to safely boost their offensive stats. You can also use Aurora Veil in the main story. Keep in mind that you will need to keep Hail active in battle, so build your team accordingly.
