The Amulet Coin is located in an isolated room in the Goldenrod Dept. Store Basement. This area is only accessible from the Goldenrod Underground with the Basement Key.

You’ll get the Basement Key after defeating a Team Rocket Exec. on the fifth floor (5F) of the Goldenrod Radio Tower. This is part of the main game’s storyline, and it becomes available after collecting seven Johto Gym Badges. You’ll get a call from Prof. Elm warning you that there’s trouble at the Radio Tower.

Prerequisites

The primary prerequisite to getting the Amulet Coin is acquiring the Basement Key to enter the Goldenrod Underground Basement.

To get it, you must:

  1. Collect seven Johto Gym Badges.
  2. Get a call from Prof. Elm warning of trouble at the Radio Tower.
  3. Battle your way up the Goldenrod Radio Tower until reaching the fifth floor (5F).
  4. Defeat the Team Rocket Exec. impersonating the Radio Director.

The Team Rocket Exec. will surrender the Basement Key upon defeat. Use it to rescue the real Radio Exec. and get your Amulet Coin.

Descend the stairs and go south, then turn east at the earliest opportunity.

The blue door to the Underground Warehouse is at the end of this narrow passage. Use the Basement Key to open it and head inside.

Note: You might have to fight some trainers if you’ve never been here, but their Pokémon are all very low-level. They shouldn’t be a problem at this point in the game.
