The Move Tutor is a male NPC in Goldenrod City who can teach your Pokémon one of three powerful moves in exchange for 4,000 Game Corner coins.
You can find him standing outside the Goldenrod Game Corner on Wednesday and Saturday, but only after you’ve defeated the Elite Four and Champion Lance. And he only teaches your Pokémon one move on any given day, so after that you’ll have to come back on another Wednesday or Saturday to learn another one.
Here’s a list of all the moves he can teach your Pokémon:
Tutor Moves | |||
---|---|---|---|
Move | Type | Base Power | Cost |
Flamethrower | Fire | 90 | 4,000 coins |
Ice Beam | Ice | 90 | 4,000 coins |
Thunderbolt | Electric | 90 | 4,000 coins |
Tip: Check out our Game Corner Guide for tips and tricks to earn coins fast.
Prerequisites
The Move Tutor won’t offer his services until the post-game after you’ve conquered the Pokémon League and entered the Hall of Fame. He also won’t do it for free.
Here’s what you need to do before the Move Tutor agrees to teach your Pokémon:
- Collect all eight Johto Gym Badges.
- Travel to the Indigo Plateau.
- Defeat the Elite Four and Champion Lance.
- Pick up the Coin Case from the Goldenrod Underground.
The Coin Case allows you to hold the coins required to pay the Move Tutor.
Finding the Move Tutor (Wednesday & Saturday)
The Move Tutor only shows up on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so check the Date & Time on your PokéGear before heading to Goldenrod City.
You’ll find him standing outside the Goldenrod Game Corner, just north of the Pokémon Center.
