# Location Repeatable?
1 Moomoo Farm on Route 39. Given as a reward for healing a sick Miltank by feeding it 7 Berries. No
2 Dark Cave. Enter from the Blackthorn City side (Route 45), cross the lake, and follow the road westward to find TM13. No

There are two ways of obtaining TM13 Snore in Pokémon Crystal:

Method #1: Heal the sick Miltank at Moomoo Farm (Route 39) and then talk to the female farmer in the house next to the farm’s barn. She will give you TM13 as a reward. This can be done as soon as you reach Ecruteak City.

Method #2: Explore Dark Cave starting from the entrance on Route 45 (south of Blackthorn City). Go inside, use Surf to cross the underground lake, and follow the road westward to find the TM on the ground.

We’ll go over each method in detail below.

Getting TM13 Snore (Step-by-Step)

Method #1: Help the Miltank at Moomoo Farm

Step 1: Find Moomoo Farm on Route 39, west of Ecruteak City and north of Olivine City.

Start at Ecruteak’s western exit toward Route 38 and get off the fenced path by immediately turning south.

Follow this road until you find a tall grass patch next to a ledge. Walk north into the tall grass.

Tip: You might run into a Tauros or a Miltank during the Morning and Day time periods. These Pokémon do great with TM13 Snore, so take a chance to catch them if you haven’t.

Exit the tall grass by turning left, then walk a few paces down before continuing westward to Route 39.

Tip: The blue-haired trainer battle is unavoidable. Her only Pokémon, Corsola [Lvl.19], is weak to Fighting, Ground, Grass, and Electric-type moves due to its Water/Rock typing.

The entrance to the Moomoo Farm is between some white fences just after entering Route 39.

Follow the fenced road westward to find the farm’s main house and barn.

Step 2: Enter the small building left of the main house (this is the barn).

Here you’ll find Moomoo, the farm’s Miltank. She has recently fallen ill but she can be healed with your help.

Step 3: Feed seven (7) Berries to the sick Miltank.

To feed Moomoo a Berry, just talk to the cow in the barn while you have berries in your bag. You must talk to Moomoo repeatedly for each Berry.

Note: The item you need to have is a regular “Berry”, which heals 10HP, rather than just any type of berry you can get.

The fastest ways to gather enough berries are to visit these locations:

  • Check the berry trees in Routes 11, 29, 30, 38, and 46.
  • Catch wild Pokémon and check for held items.
  • Use moves like Thief or Covet to steal other Pokémons’ held items.

Tip: Wild Furrets have an exceptionally high chance of carrying a Berry. Look for them on Route 43’s tall grass during the Morning and Day.

You’ll know Moomoo is healed when your character stops remarking on its weak cry. It’ll just say “Mooo!” when you talk to it.

Step 4: Head over to the main house next to the barn for your reward.

Talk to the female farmer sitting at the table to receive TM13 Snore.

Note: This also unlocks the ability to purchase Moomoo Milk from the male farmer. Each bottle costs 500 Pokédollars and heals 100 HP.

Method #2: Dark Cave (Blackthorn Side)

Step 1: Head south of Blackthorn City onto Route 45 to find the Dark Cave’s northern entrance.

From the Move Deleter’s house in southern Blackthorn, go south.

Tip: You can get HM05 Flash by defeating the head monk on the top floor of Bellsprout Tower in northern Violet City.

Step 3: Go south in the cave to find an underground lake.

You could land further to the left and be closer to TM13, but we’ll get an extra Revive by crossing in a straight line.

Tip: A free Revive is lying on the ground up the stairs near where we landed. Get it if you have space left in your bag!

You’ll know you’re near TM13 when you stop seeing water to the north – but the TM should be a pretty visible overworld item right before a ledge (pictured below).

Be careful not to run past the item and jump down the nearby ledge, as you’d have to leave the cave and Fly back to Blackthorn to start again.

TM13 Snore Details + Uses

Snore Move Details
Type Normal
Category Physical
Power 40
Accuracy 100%
PP 15 (max. 24)

Snore is a very special move that can be used only when the user is asleep.

This makes it a terrific combo with Rest, a Normal-type move that fully restores the user’s HP and cures any status conditions before making them fall asleep.

It’s also very useful against foes that put your Pokémon to sleep with moves like Sleep Powder, Sing, and Hypnosis.

Normally, this leaves you defenseless for a couple of turns. But Snore lets you keep up the pressure while your Pokémon recovers.

Note: The only other move Pokémon can use while asleep is Sleep Talk, which lets them randomly perform one of their three remaining moves.

Almost every Pokémon can learn Snore, but there are some exceptions. These are:

  • Weedle
  • Kakuna
  • Caterpie
  • Metapod
  • Magikarp
  • Ditto
  • Unown
  • Smeargle
  • Wobbuffet

Teach it to a Normal-type Pokémon with a high base Attack to benefit from the same-type attack bonus (STAB).

Here are some amazing Normal-type Pokémon that need Snore in their moveset:

Pokémon Location
Snorlax Blocking Route 11
Ursaring Dark Cave (Blackthorn side), Mt. Silver
Tauros Route 38 and 39 (Morning, Day)
Kangashkan Rock Tunnel (Morning, Day)
Snorlax, Ursaring, and Tauros learn Rest by leveling up. Kangashkan needs a TM.

Note: In the table above I only included Pokémon that can also learn Rest so that you can immediately put the [Rest + Snore] strategy to the test.
