Tips for Beating Blaine

  • Your Party should be leveled up to about Level 45: Blaine’s highest level Pokémon, Arcanine, is Level 47. Arcanine hits pretty hard, so make sure the Pokémon you plan to use are about the same level so that they don’t get instantly melted by Fire Blast.
  • Utilize Surf: In order to reach Cinnabar Island, you need Surf. So, you might as well take advantage of the HM and use it against Blaine. All of his Pokémon are extremely weak to Water Type moves, and Surf is one of the best ones due to its decent power and high accuracy.
  • Avoid Physical Attacks: Growlithe and Arcanine both have the ability Intimidate. Intimidate reduces the Attack stat of your active Pokémon, which means physical attacks will be pretty useless. Stick to Special Attacks as much as possible.
  • Blaine has 2 Hyper Potions and a Full Heal: Just be aware of this during the battle. Blaine will use his Hyper Potions when his Pokémon get low. If you know Blaine will use a Hyper Potion, it’s best to take the opportunity to use an item of your own or swap your Pokémon if you’d like.

A jack of all trades when it comes to gaming. I can sit down for hours in a casual playthrough of Pokémon, or I can spend months trying to hit Diamond in League of Legends. I love and appreciate everything about games, and love sharing that passion with my readers.
