TM40 Aerial Ace can be found in two locations:
- One copy is located on Route 213, east of Pastoria City. It is visible in the field as a Poké Ball item, and obtaining it requires the Hidden Move Rock Smash.
- Unlimited copies can be purchased at the Battle Frontier. Each copy of TM40 costs 40BP, and you can win BP by fighting in the Frontier’s various battle facilities.
Aerial Ace is a damage-dealing Flying-type physical move that always has perfect accuracy.
TM40 Aerial Ace Locations
Location #1: Route 213 (Step-by-Step)
The quickest way reach TM40’s first location starts from Pastoria City.
Make sure you have a Pokémon in your party that knows Rock Smash, since you will need to destroy a rock obstacle to reach the item.
Starting from Pastoria City’s Pokémon Center, head east.
Continue eastward, passing through the eastern gate and onto Route 213.
Once you emerge on the other side, continue heading to the east.
Eventually you will reach a mountain wall; here, turn south onto the beach. Use Rock Smash on the boulder blocking the narrow pathway closest to the mountain.
Walk through the narrow gap between the mountain and the boulder you just destroyed.
TM40 Aerial Ace will be visible in the overworld as a Poké Ball item on the ground.
Location #2: The Battle Frontier
The second method of obtaining TM40 Aerial Ace is only possible after defeating the Elite Four and the Champion in the Pokémon League.
Doing so will open up the Battle Frontier, which sells various TMs, including TM40.
Once you’ve reached the Fight Area—the very first section of the Battle Zone that you visit—head directly northeast from the Pokémon Center here and enter the big building with the orange awning.
This is the Battle Frontier.
Pass through the Battle Frontier’s Entrance Hall and enter the door to the north.
In the middle of the Main Hall is a collection of kiosks that all sell different goods.
The woman standing at the southeastern kiosk with the red and white striped canopy is the TM seller.
Speak with her, and she will sell you TM40 Aerial Ace for 40 Battle Points (BP), which you’ll have to earn at the battle facilities spread all around the Main Hall.
This method is endlessly repeatable, so you can acquire multiple copies of TM40 this way.
Aerial Ace Details and Uses
Aerial Ace is a damage-dealing Flying-type physical move. It will always hit, unless the target is in the semi-invulnerable state of a move like Fly or Dig.
Aerial Ace Move Details | |
---|---|
Type | Flying |
Category | Physical |
Power | 60 |
Accuracy | —% |
PP | 20 (max. 32) |
Aerial Ace has a fairly weak base power, but it can be highly effective against Pokémon who like to use accuracy-altering status moves like Smokescreen and Double Team.
It’s best used by a Flying-type Pokémon to tack on STAB damage onto Aerial Ace’s meager base power.
And it is also a good way to avoid the accuracy penalties of fighting in heavy fog.
