Goldenrod Rooftop Sale Guide + All Items (Pokémon Crystal)

Goldenrod Dept Store Rooftop bargain sale area

Occasionally, the Goldenrod Dept. Store holds an event on the Rooftop Lookout (7F) where useful items are sold at discounted prices.

You can access the Rooftop Lookout by going up the stairs on the Goldenrod Dept. Store Rooftop (6F).

The only way to find out about Rooftop Sales is to get a call from Camper Todd. You can get his contact number by talking to him after a Pokémon Battle on Route 34.

Finding Camper Todd

To find Camper Todd, head south of Goldenrod City and enter Route 34.

You’ll see Camper Todd right away. He’s the guy standing between the signpost and the tall grass.

Camper Todd will challenge you to a Pokémon battle when you enter his field of vision.

Talk to him again after winning, and he’ll tell you about Rooftop Sales. He’ll also ask for your phone number to let you know whenever one is underway.

How To Get More Calls from Camper Todd

Rooftop Sales depend on Camper Todd calling you, not the other way around.

If you get Camper Todd to call you more often, then Rooftop Sales will also happen more often.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Erase every possible number from your phone except Camper Todd’s
  2. Go to Mom in New Bark Town and change to and from Daytime Savings

Reducing your contact list ensures you don’t waste time talking to others while waiting for the Swarm Watcher to call.

Tip: You can do it by navigating to the Phone app on your PokéGear, then choosing a number and pressing “Delete.”

But what really speeds up the process is changing to and from Daytime Savings time with Mom.

To do this, approach her in your house in New Bark Town, and say “Yes” when she asks whether you want to change to or from DST.

Every time DST changes, there’s a 50% chance of getting a phone call from one of your contacts. That means Camper Todd since you erased every other number.
