1 Memorial Pillar (Five Island) – Leave a Lemonade as an offering No

You will get TM42 Facade from an NPC at Memorial Pillar, which is just south of Five Island in the Sevii Islands. This NPC will give you the TM if you leave a Lemonade as an offering at the tombstone of his Pokémon.

You can buy a Lemonade at the rooftop of the Celadon Department Store.

But to reach Five Island you’ll need to use the Rainbow Pass at the Vermilion City port. The pass is given to you after you’ve beaten the Elite Four for the first time, and after you show Professor Oak your Pokédex with at least 60 Pokémon recorded in it.

And to reach the Memorial Pillar you’ll need a Pokémon in your party who knows HM03 Surf. The pillar site and Five Island are separated by a body of water.

Facade Move Details
Type Normal
Category Physical
Power 70
Accuracy 100
PP 20

Facade is a Physical Normal-type attack that doesn’t look like much on the surface.

Its 70 base Power is modest and still fairly useful by itself. But it can become quite powerful thanks to its secondary effect.

If the user of Facade is paralyzed, burned, or poisoned, Facade’s base power doubles from 70 to 140.

With perfect Accuracy and 20 PP, the attack can be dominating over the course of battle.

So even though this TM is only available in the post-game, it’s definitely a TM worth getting.

Who To Teach Facade To

The move Facade is commonly taught to Pokémon with the Guts ability. If a Pokémon with the Guts ability is suffering from a status infliction, its Attack stat is increased by 50%. This combination can considerably increase the damage potential of Facade.

There are a handful of Pokémon in FireRed & LeafGreen that can learn Facade and that also having the Guts ability.

The list includes Heracross, Raticate, and Machamp.

Heracross and Machamp are ideal options to teach Facade to, as they both feature a great Attack stat and they can carry a handful of other great moves in their movepool.
