2 | Battle Maison’s Exchange Service Corner – 48 BP | Yes |
In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, there are two ways to obtain an Expert Belt.
The first method involves solving the Trick Master’s first puzzle in the Trick House, which is situated on Route 110. Once you’ve successfully navigated the first puzzle, you’ll find the Expert Belt in the prize room.
The second method lets you get multiple Expert Belts at the Battle Maison’s Exchange Service Corner. Each Expert Belt will cost 48 Battle Points (BP).
Method 1: Trick House (First Puzzle)
Located on Route 110, the Trick House is a peculiar house filled with ever-changing puzzles and mazes.
For the first puzzle, you’re going to need to cut down some prickly trees. So be sure to bring a Pokémon with HM01 Cut.
If you don’t know where the Trick House is, just head over to the north exit of Slateport City which leads onto Route 110:
Step 1: After entering Route 110, follow the path heading northwest. This linear path will lead to the Trick House.

Step 2: Keep moving north and you’ll soon find the Trick House with a small sign out front.

Step 3: Once you enter, look for the Trick Master. You’ll find him hiding beneath the table.

Step 4: After speaking with the Trick Master, interact with the scroll on the wall to enter the maze.

First Puzzle Solution
Step 1: To solve this puzzle, you’ll need to locate a hidden scroll within the maze.
Begin by heading to the right side of the maze.

Step 2: As you progress, you’ll come across a series of prickly trees blocking your path.
Use Cut to clear all three trees and follow the path as shown in the image below.

Step 3: After cutting the three trees blocking your path, turn right and you’ll encounter a trainer. Win a battle against her to move ahead.

Step 4: After winning the battle, head up north and use HM01 Cut one more time.
Then interact with the scroll up ahead on the ground to learn the secret code needed to exit the maze.

Step 5: Once you have the code, head back towards the entrance and locate the hallway on the left side of the room. This should bring you all the way to the northern wall.
Once you reach the center of the northern wall, you’ll find another scroll.
Interact with it to reveal the maze’s hidden exit.

Step 6: Go through the door to reach the Trick Master’s prize room.
To the right of his TV will be an overworld item on the ground – pick it up to get the Expert Belt.

Method 2: Battle Maison’s BP Shop
The Battle Maison operates similarly to the Battle Tower from previous generations.
If you don’t know where the Battle Maison is, just head over to the Battle Resort’s Pokémon Center to get started.
Step 1: From the Battle Resort’s Pokémon Center, proceed slightly east and then head up the staircase at the nearby intersection.

Step 2: After going up the stairs, just keep going north and enter the Battle Maison.

Step 3: Once you’re inside, you’ll see two staircases going upstairs. Head up the right one.

Step 4: On the second floor you’ll find one of the Exchange Service Corner’s attendants. If you’ve got at least 48 BP you can purchase the Expert Belt from her.

In the Exchange Service Corner, two attendants offer a wide variety of valuable items in exchange for BP.
The left attendant sells Vitamins, EV training items, and evolution items. The right attendant sells held items used in battles, including the Expert Belt.

How the Expert Belt Works

The Expert Belt is a held item that boosts the power of super effective moves used by the holder by 20%.
Although the Expert Belt has a straightforward effect, it’s a good held item that’s still used in competitive battles. Unlike Life Orb and Choice items that boost the power of all moves with a drawback, the Expert Belt specifically boosts the power of super effective moves without any downsides.
However, its usefulness can be somewhat situational.
Particularly in instances when your moveset doesn’t include a move that’s super effective against your opponent.
In such scenarios, the Expert Belt provides no benefit.
This is why when you’re running Expert Belt it’s good to make sure you have a wide variety of coverage moves to maximize the chances of having a super effective move against your opponent.
And here’s one more benefit for PvP battles:
An often-overlooked advantage of the Expert Belt is that your opponent won’t know what item you’re actually holding (unless they use the ability Frisk). This adds a layer of unpredictability, which can lead opponents to underestimate the damage you can deal with your super effective moves.
