Mauville Food Court is located inside Mauville City. This is a mini-game where you can order food and participate in battles for rewards.
Once you’ve placed an order, you’re given a set number of turns to wait for your food. While waiting, you will be challenged to battles by a gauntlet of Trainers who want you seat.
If you defeat a certain number of trainers within the allotted number of turns you will then receive additional rewards.
Mauville Food Court Location (Step-by-Step)
The Mauville Food Court is unlocked immediately after you gain access to Mauville City. Here’s a quick guide on where to find it:
Step 1: Start by heading south from Mauville City’s Pokémon Center. Look for the entrance that leads back inside the city’s interior.
Step 2: Continue south down the hallway until you reach an intersection.
The Mauville Food Court should be on your right-hand side, and you’ll see a small green banner above the entryway with a fork & plate symbol.
Step 3: When you enter for the first time, a young boy will greet you and introduce you to how the battle challenges work in the Mauville Food Court.
How To Battle in the Mauville Food Court
Upon entering the food court, you will find three counters where you can place an order to start a battle challenge. Although the Mauville Food Court is unlocked relatively early in the game, only the Village Sub Combo will be available at first.
This means two of the counters will each have a line of customers, preventing you from placing an order.
To clear each line you must unlock and complete the previous available order.
Note: All three orders will be available after you’ve finished the Delta Episode in the post-game.
Here’s a list of all orders available at the Mauville Food Court, along with the details on how to unlock them and the turn limits for each battle type.
Order | Requirements | Battle Type | Level | Cost | Turn Limit |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Village Sub Combo T | None | Single Battles | 17 | 1,000 | 5 |
Magnemite Croquette | Earn the Rain Badge | Double Battles | 55 | 5,000 | 6 |
Mauville Ramen Bowl | Complete the Delta Episode | Triple Battles | 65 | 10,000 | 8 |
Once you’ve placed an order, here’s how the battle challenge works:
Step 1: You’ll be given a set amount of turns to wait for your meal after paying.
Step 2: Take a seat and prepare to battle against Trainers who will challenge you.
Your goal should be to defeat them in one turn. After each battle, you’ll be reminded of how many turns you have left.
Step 3: After the turn limit is up, a cutscene will show you eating your meal.
If you get your order on the exact turn limit, you’ll receive an extra reward. Additionally, defeating each Trainer in one turn will earn you two rewards instead.
Village Sub Combo (Single Battles)
The Village Sub Combo is the order that’s initially unlocked when you first reach Mauville Food Court. Talk to the Pokémon Breeder behind the counter to place an order for the Village Sub Combo.
When you order the Village Sub Combo, you’ll be given a turn limit of 5.

General Battle Tips & Strategies for Mauville Food Court
In the Mauville Food Court, achieving one-turn victories against each trainer can be surprisingly difficult. Especially in the Magnemite Croquette and Mauville Ramen Bowl.
Whether you’re seeking extra rewards or want to test your skills as a trainer, these tips and tricks will aid you in conquering all three challenges in the Mauville Food Court.
- Bring High-Level Pokémon. In the Mauville Food Court, there are no level restrictions. So make sure you’re at least a couple of levels ahead of the trainers you’ll face. Refer to team overviews in this guide to check their team’s level.
- Use Sweepers with Wide Coverage. To achieve one-turn victories, bring Pokémon with high offensive stats and a diverse moveset that deals with various types effectively. Switching isn’t an option here, so versatile sweepers are crucial.
- Utilize Moves with Multiple Targets. Moves like Earthquake, Rock Slide, or Surf that hit multiple targets at once can be invaluable in quickly defeating opponents during the Double and Triple Battle challenges.
- Pay Attention to Your Opponents’ Abilities. In the Magnemite Croquette challenge, all trainers have Pokémon with abilities granting them immunity to certain types. Another trainer even uses Shedinja with the ability Wonder Guard, making it invulnerable to non-super effective moves.
- Equip Choice Items. Use a Choice Specs or Choice Band to maximize the power of your attacks, increasing the likelihood of OHKO-ing opponents. The move limitation drawback won’t matter since your goal is to end the battle in a single turn anyway.
Expert Tips for the Mauville Ramen Bowl
The Ramen Bowl is the hardest challenge in the Mauville Food Court. So your opponents in the Mauville Ramen Bowl will try their best to stop you from defeating all eight trainers in eight turns.
Here are some of the most effective strategies your opponents will use and how you can counter them:
- Evading Attacks with Double Team and Brightpowder. Include a Pokémon in your team with the ability No Guard like Golurk, which ensures that every move used by or against that Pokémon will always hit its target, bypassing their attempts to make you miss your moves.
- Full Intimidate and Snarl Team. Street Thug Wellington will lower your team’s Attack stats by 3 at the beginning of the battle with Intimidate. Use Special sweepers to take them out before they can use Snarl to lower your Special Attack. You can also use Pokemon with Hyper Cutter or Contrary to counter stat reduction strategies.
- Priority-boosted Stun Spore. Street Thug Pitaha’s Whimsicott utilizes the Prankster + Stun Spore combo to paralyze your Pokémon before they can attack. Equip a Cheri Berry or Lum Berry to cure paralysis, or use Electric-types (immune to paralysis) and Grass-types (unaffected by powder moves).
- Moves that Cause Flinch. Watch out for Fare Prince Trencherman’s Pokémon, as every move they use can cause a flinch thanks to King’s Rock. Pokémon with Inner Focus or Ghost-types (immune to the Normal-type move Extremespeed) can counter this. Prioritize defeating Togekiss, as its Serene Grace boosted Air Slash has a very high flinch chance.
