3 | (Omega Ruby) Mauville Food Court – Reward for completing the Mauville Ramen Bowl | Yes |
There are three different methods for obtaining Deep Sea Tooths in ORAS.
The first method involves using Thief to steal Deep Sea Tooths from Wild Carvanha or Sharpedo, which can be found by fishing on Route 118 or Route 119.
Alternatively, you have the chance to find a Deep Sea Tooth in Mirage Spots – specifically in Crescent Isle and in any Mirage Cave. You can use the Dowsing Machine to search for hidden items in these areas once you’ve gotten the Eon Flute from Steven.
And exclusively in Pokémon Omega Ruby, you can also obtain a Deep Sea Tooth as a reward for completing the Mauville Ramen Bowl in the Mauville Food Court. To obtain this reward you must finish the Mauville Ramen Bowl course in exactly 8 turns and defeat all 8 Trainers.
Method 1: Stealing from Wild Carvanha or Sharpedo
You can take a Deep Sea Tooth as a held item from either a wild Carvanha or wild Sharpedo.
You’ll encounter these Pokémon by fishing with a Good Rod or Super Rod in any body of water on Route 118 or Route 119.
With each encounter there’s a 5% chance they will be holding a Deep Sea Tooth. You can take the held item by using Thief.
Tip: If you want more details on how to farm held items from wild Pokémon, you can check out this guide we created on how to build an optimal item farming team.
Here’s the complete encounter rates and list of Pokémon available when you fish in these areas:

Using the DexNav’s Detector Mode
To improve your odds of finding Deep Sea Tooths you can also use the DexNav’s Detector Mode.
Here’s how:
Once you’ve caught a Carvanha or Sharpedo, this feature makes it easier to find them as hidden Pokémon, so you won’t need to fish for them anymore.
Each encounter with a particular species of Pokémon, regardless of whether you catch it or not, increases DexNav’s search level and the likelihood of encountering Pokémon carrying items.
Method 2: Crescent Isle and Mirage Caves
Upon obtaining the Eon Flute from Steven, you’ll be able to soar through Hoenn’s skies and gain access to Mirage Spots.
Mirage Spots provide various benefits such as a way to catch rare or legendary Pokémon, get valuable items, and obtain unique TMs. Additionally, each Mirage Spot contains a random hidden item, which can be found with the Dowsing Machine.
Each day, a random Mirage Spot appears on the outskirts of Hoenn, marked by a red sparkle; these Mirage Spots fall into one of five categories:
- Mirage Cave
- Mirage Forest
- Mirage Island
- Mirage Mountain
- Crescent Isle
In Mirage Caves and Crescent Isle you can find various hidden items, one of which is a Deep Sea Tooth.
Each day, you can find one unique item per spot. All the potential items you can find in these locations are listed below:
Location | Items |
---|---|
Crescent Isle |

Mirage Cave |

The image below highlights all possible Mirage Cave locations, as well as the fixed location of Crescent Isle. If none of the Mirage Spots below are currently active, you can adjust the time settings on your 3DS or emulator until any of them appear.

Method 3: Mauville Food Court (Omega Ruby Exclusive)
In Pokemon Omega Ruby, completing the Mauville Ramen Bowl at the Mauville Food Court in exactly eight turns, and defeating all the Trainers there, will earn you a Deep Sea Tooth.
However, in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire this method will grant you a different reward instead (a Deep Sea Scale).
Mauville Food Court is where you can order food and participate in battles for rewards. Once you’ve placed an order, you’re given a set number of turns to wait for your food.
While waiting, you will be challenged to battles by a gauntlet of Trainers who want you seat. If you defeat a certain number of trainers within the allotted number of turns, you will receive additional rewards.
Finding the Mauville Food Court
If you don’t know where the Mauville Food Court is or how to unlock the Mauville Ramen Bowl, here’s what you need to do:
Step 1: Start by heading south from Mauville City’s Pokémon Center. Look for the entrance that leads back inside the city’s interior.
Step 2: Continue south down the hallway until you reach an intersection. The Mauville Food Court should be on your right-hand side with a green banner above the entryway.
Step 3: When you enter for the first time, a young boy will greet you and introduce you to how the battle challenges work in the Mauville Food Court.
Step 4: When you enter the food court for the first time, you’ll find three counters where you can place your order to initiate the challenge.
However, two of the counters will each have a line of customers, preventing you from ordering.
To clear the lines you’ll need to complete the previous available order.
Here’s a list of all orders available at the Mauville Food Court, along with the details on how to unlock them and the turn limits for each battle type.
Order | Requirements | Battle Type | Level | Cost | Turn Limit |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Village Sub Combo | None | Single Battles | 17 | 1,000 | 5 |
Magnemite Croquette | Earn the Rain Badge | Double Battles | 55 | 5,000 | 6 |
Mauville Ramen Bowl | Complete the Delta Episode | Triple Battles | 65 | 10,000 | 8 |
After successfully completing both the Village Sub Combo and the Magnemite Croquette challenges, as well as finishing the Delta Episode, you’ll find that the line for the Mauville Ramen Bowl has cleared out.
Talk to the Black Belt behind the counter to place an order for the Mauville Ramen Bowl.
The Mauville Ramen Bowl
When you order the Mauville Ramen Bowl, you’ll be given a turn limit of 8.
This means that if it takes you one turn to defeat each trainer in a Triple Battle, you will encounter a total of 8 trainers.
Depending on your performance, here are the possible rewards for this particular order:
Reward | Method | Version |
---|---|---|
Big Nugget x2 | Finish the Mauville Ramen Bowl course in exactly 8 turns | OR/AS |
Deep Sea Tooth | Finish the Mauville Ramen Bowl course in exactly 8 turns and defeat all 8 Trainers | OR |
Deep Sea Scale | Finish the Mauville Ramen Bowl course in exactly 8 turns and defeat all 8 Trainers | AS |
As the hardest challenge in the Mauville Food Court, your opponents in the Mauville Ramen Bowl will try their best to stop you from defeating all eight trainers in eight turns.
A specific trainer will bring a full team of Pokémon with the Intimidate ability to reduce the damage inflicted by your Pokémon’s physical moves.
Furthermore, some trainers will also equip their Pokémon with Bright Powder and King’s Rock, making it much more difficult for your moves to land successfully.
These are just a few of the strategies they’ll use to try and stop you.
To counter your opponents’ strategies, consider the following tips:
- Assemble a full team of three Pokémon at a high level, preferably level 100, as your opponents will always be at level 65.
- Make use of moves that damage multiple targets simultaneously, such as Earthquake, Rock Slide, or Surf. These moves can help you quickly defeat multiple opponents in the Triple Battle.
- Consider including a Pokémon on your team that has the ability No Guard. This ability ensures that every move used by or against that Pokémon will always hit its target, bypassing the opponents’ attempts to evade your attacks.
Using the Deep Sea Tooth
Outside of Battle
The Deep Sea Tooth is one of two Evolution items specifically designed for Clamperl’s evolutions. When a Clamperl holding a Deep Sea Tooth is traded, it will evolve into Huntail. After evolving the Deep Sea Tooth will be consumed and disappears.
On the other hand, when a Clamperl holding a Deep Sea Scale is traded, it will evolve into Gorebyss.
In Battle
The Deep Sea Tooth is also a held item. When held by Clamperl in battle, this item doubles Clamperl’s Special Attack.
The Deep Sea Tooth has no effect in battle when held by any Pokémon other than Clamperl.
