TM71 Stone Edge can be purchased on the fourth floor of the Lilycove Department Store for 30,000 Pokédollars. You can get the TM as soon as you arrive in Lilycove for the first time.
And while you’re there, you might consider checking out the other TMs available from the two clerks on the same floor – because all of the TMs sold here can only be acquired in Lilycove’s Dept. Store.
As for the move itself:
Stone Edge is a damaging Rock-type move with an increased chance of landing a critical hit. It’s a highly recommended move for most offensive Rock-type Pokémon due to its raw power.
TM71 Stone Edge Location (Step-by-Step)
The Lilycove Department Store is a multi-level PokéMart located on the north side of Lilycove City. If you haven’t been to Lilycove City yet, here’s all you’ll need:
- The sixth Gym Badge from Winona, the Gym Leader from Fortree City
- Access to Route 121
Once that’s all set, here’s a quick step-by-step on how to reach the Department Store and get your TM.
Step 1: Head east entering the city until you pass Lilycove City’s Pokémon Center.
Step 2: If this is your first time in Lilycove then be prepared to battle your Rival. This battle starts at the staircase near the PokeCenter.
Step 3: After you win the battle, climb up the staircase.
Step 4: Then turn left and enter Lilycove Department Store (the building with the blue and yellow striped awning).
Step 5: Take the elevator to the fourth floor of the Department Store.

Stone Edge is a Physical Rock-type move that has an increased Critical-Hit Ratio.
A Critical Hit from Stone Edge will not only deal increased damage, but also bypass any negative stat boosts that could have reduced the damage.
Stone Edge is widely considered as the most powerful Rock-type attack, and it has become a staple for offensive Rock-type Pokémon since its introduction.
Despite having a relatively low accuracy of 80, its impressive 100 base power compensates for this drawback.
Additionally, its increased critical-hit ratio adds to the move’s overall usefulness.
A wide variety of Pokémon can learn Stone Edge for additional coverage in battles. This includes Rock-types of course), but also Ground- and Steel-types,
How Critical Hits Work
Each attack has a chance to land a Critical Hit, which increases the damage dealt by 50%. Additionally, Critical Hits ignore the attacker’s negative stat stages and the defender’s positive stat stages, making it extremely useful in battle.
Tip: Critical Hits can bypass the damage reduction from Reflect or Light Screen. However, Burn’s Attack reduction is still applied to the damage calculation even if the attack lands as a Critical Hit.
Critical Hit probability is calculated in stages, with each stage increasing the chances of landing one.
Most attacking moves will always begin at Stage 0, but high Critical-Hit Ratio moves like Stone Edge begin at Stage 1.
The stages and their chances of landing a Critical Hit are listed below:
Stage | Chance of Critical Hit (Gen 6) |
---|---|
0 | 6.25% |
+1 | 12.5% |
+2 | 50% |
+3 and above | 100% |
There are also several items, moves, and abilities that boost your moves’ Critical-Hit Ratio:
Name | Type | Effect |
---|---|---|
Super Luck | Ability | Raises the Critical-Hit Ratio of the user’s moves by one stage. |
Lansat Berry | Held Item | Raises the holder’s Critical-Hit Ratio by two stages when the holder’s HP falls below 25% |
Razor Claw | Held Item | Raises the Critical-Hit Ratio of the holder’s moves by one stage. |
Scope Lens | Held Item | Raises the Critical-Hit Ratio of the holder’s moves by one stage. |
Focus Energy | Move | Raises the Critical-Hit Ratio of the user’s moves by two stages. |
