1 Route 216—On a mountain to the northeast of the Snowbound Lodge (requires Rock Climb) No

The only Mental Herb in Pokémon Platinum is located on a mountain ledge on route 216, far to the south of Snowpoint City.

You will also need a Pokémon that knows Rock Climb to access this ledge. So you won’t be able to get the Mental Herb until after winning the Icicle Badge from Snowpoint City’s Gym Leader Candice.

Acquiring the Mental Herb (Step-by-Step)

The one Mental Herb in Sinnoh is found on Route 216. You’ll find it inside a Poke Ball high up on a ledge near the Snowbound Lodge.

Although you pass the Snowbound Lodge on your first long journey to Snowpoint City, you won’t be able to reach the nearby ledge without the Hidden Move Rock Climb.

This means you’ll only have access to the Mental Herb after you’ve received the Icicle Badge from Leader Candice at the Snowpoint City Gym.

Reaching the Snowbound Lodge

Assuming you have a Pokémon that can use Rock Climb outside of battle, our first task is to get back to the Snowbound Lodge on Route 216. This will serve as a marker when searching for the Mental Herb.

This will be a lengthy journey no matter where you start, but the easiest way is to begin in Snowpoint City.

From Snowpoint’s Pokémon Center, head northwest.

Mental Herb Details and Uses

The in-game description of the Mental Herb.

The Mental Herb is a held item that automatically cures the holder when it is stricken with infatuation. The Herb is consumed after one use, except in battles with other players and at the Battle Frontier.

Truthfully, you’re not likely to get much use out of the Mental Herb.

Infatuation is a pain—it prevents the afflicted Pokémon from acting against the opposing team 50% of the time.

But it’s also one of the least common status conditions to suffer from.

You can keep the Mental Herb handy for Battle Frontier battles in which the move Attract or the Cute Charm Ability are likely to be used, but otherwise you won’t be faulted for ignoring it.

It should be noted that the Mental Herb becomes far more useful starting in Generation V, when it will also be able to cure the effects of Taunt, Heal Block, and Disable.
