After winning the Icicle Badge from Candice in Snowpoint City, you’re finally ready to hit Team Galactic’s central headquarters in Veilstone City.
But you won’t be able to Fly to Veilstone and just waltz right in through the heavily-guarded front doors. What you need is a back entryway—and that requires the Storage Key.
We’ll guide you step-by-step on how to find the Storage Key and how to use it to access the Galactic HQ.
Confronting Commander Jupiter at Lake Acuity
Before you can infiltrate Team Galactic’s HQ, you’ll need to head up to Lake Acuity (using the newly-acquired Hidden Move Rock Climb) for some key info.
Note: This step is required to trigger any of the following events.
At the lake, you’ll find that your Rival has just lost a Pokémon battle to Commander Jupiter.
Jupiter will notice your arrival and give you some of that signature Galactic trash talk, revealing some diabolical plans brewing in Veilstone City in the process.
She’ll warn you not to investigate the matter, but you’re not going to listen to that.
As soon as she’s gone, Fly to Veilstone City and prepare to wage war.
Uncovering the Storage Key
From Veilstone City’s Pokémon Center, head for the front entrance of Team Galactic’s headquarters by moving northeast up the street.
Climb the stairs at the northern end of the street to reach the front of the building.
Don’t even bother going inside; the Galactic HQ’s security detail is as unfriendly to visitors as ever. Instead, notice the new Galactic Grunt standing outside and admiring the communications array.
Speak to him and he’ll notice you right away.
Apparently you’ve beaten this Grunt so badly in the past that Team Galactic took his Pokémon away.
The now-defenseless Grunt will run away screaming, saying he knows nothing about a “Storage Key” (even though you didn’t ask).
Once the Grunt has fled, Looker from the International Police will show up with a Storage Key the Grunt dropped while escaping.
Having Looker Unlock the Back Entrance
You don’t actually receive the Storage Key from Looker, so you’ll need him to use it for you.
Select Yes when Looker asks if you’ll enter the Galactic hideout.
Officer Looker will agree to meet you at the Galactic Warehouse on the opposite side of town. So turn around and head back down the stairs.
Turn left after you pass the Pokémon Center.
Pass the next staircase and move northwest up the street.
Turn north at the street corner and head up the street by the Department Store and the Gym.
Turn eastward to pass behind the Department Store, then head up the stairs to the north to enter the Galactic Warehouse.
Approach the security door inside the Warehouse.
Once you’re right up against it, Looker will enter the room behind you.
Then he’ll step up to the door with you and use the Storage Key to unlock it.
With the back entrance breached, Looker will lead the charge down the stairs and into Galactic’s HQ.
Now you’ll be free to follow him and thwart whatever Team Galactic has planned.
From this point on, you can enter and leave Team Galactic’s base at any time through this back entrance.
As you explore these headquarters you’ll eventually come across the Galactic Key. This will allow you to use the front entrance freely (among other things).
