Psychic Move Details

Psychic Move Details
Type Psychic
Power 90
Accuracy 100%
PP 10 (max. 16)
Effect Has a 30% chance of lowering the opposing Pokémon’s Special stat.

Psychic is the premier Psychic type move in Gen 1.

Compared to later gens where Psychic has a 10% chance of lowering the opposing Pokémon’s Special Defense, Psychic in Gen 1 has a 30% chance of lowering the opposing Pokémon’s Special stat.

Since the Special stat in Gen 1 includes both Special Attack and Special Defense, Psychic is made twice as useful.

If you’ve got a Psychic-type Pokémon on your team, then Psychic is a must-have move.

Most Psychic-type Pokémon in Gen 1 have a high Special stat. Pair this with Psychic’s power of 90, and the same type attack bonus (STAB) Psychic types would get from using the move, and Psychic’s power is incredibly high.

Even non-Psychic types with a good Special stat could benefit from using Psychic.

Psychic’s combination of high power and good probability for major stat lowering makes it one of the best TM moves in Gen 1.
