What Does Confessing at the Church Do? (SoS: FoMT)

In Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, confessing to Carter can lead to a small friendship boost with all villagers & animals (if he forgives you). But getting Carter’s blessing via confessional is also necessary to be able to marry Kappa or the Harvest Goddess.

And other than confessionals, Carter can also offer to help you with Cursed Tools as well. So there is an actual purpose of going to the Church to see Carter.

The confession booth is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and rainy days from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Unequip Cursed Tools

The only way to remove the Cursed Hoe and the Cursed Watering Can is to ask Carter to bless them 5 times. Each blessing costs 1,000 G and you can ask for it several times a day.

Carter blesses the Cursed Hammer.

After Carter removes the curse from each tool, they will turn into the Blessed versions and you can finally use them normally.

Choosing this option while you don’t have a Cursed Tool in your toolbag will result in Carter giving you a short lecture about “unholy tools”.

Making a Confession

Once a day, you can make a confession from a set of 3 options that Carter will offer.

Asking for forgiveness will not guarantee a positive outcome, and more often than not he will reprimand you for your actions.

Carter responds to the farmer’s confession.

On the rare occasion that Carter will forgive you, you’ll earn a small friendship boost with the villagers or your farm animals, depending on the nature of the confession. It’s also possible to restore a small amount of stamina upon forgiveness.

For the confession options about the Harvest Goddess and Kappa, Carter’s blessing is a requirement for marriage.
