Whenever you turn on the TV at exactly 4:40 AM in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, you’ll get a creepy static screen and a string of cryptic numbers.
What does this mean?
First of all, nothing else will happen to you – it’s just an easter egg designed to scare players, especially when you’re staying up so late in-game.
Here’s what it means though:
In Japanese superstition, the number 4 represents death and is generally considered unlucky. The TV “glitch” or easter egg you get at 4:44 is supposed to be a kind of nod to the Japanese part of Mineral Town’s culture.

This glitch is also a reference to the original Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town game, where the same thing would happen at 4:44 AM.
However, in the original Harvest Moon: FoMT game you’d be stuck in an endless dialogue loop and ruin your entire save file.
Thankfully, that doesn’t happen in the Story of Seasons remake. You can just close the dialogue and carry on with your day!
