You can use the kitchen to cook recipes in Spiritfarer.
You simply put in one or more ingredients inside the oven, and cook them for a certain period of time for different dishes. These recipes can then be served to different spirits on the boat to improve their mood and stop their hunger.
In this guide we’ll teach you everything you need to know about building the kitchen, upgrading it, and cooking dishes with it.
Unlocking the Kitchen
Early in the game, the spirit Gwen will introduce you to the Kitchen via the “I Get Cranky When I’m Hungry” request.
The blueprints for the kitchen building can be found in the “Facilities” tab of your Blueprint Station, automatically unlocked through the Beginner Blueprint Station.
The materials needed for the kitchen will also come from the debris you cleaned on your ship initially, as well as the minigame that Gwen introduces to you: the jellyfish event.
How To Build the Kitchen
Kitchen Building Requirements | |
---|---|
Material | Where to Get |
5 Maple Logs |
Maple logs are made by cutting down maple trees, found in:
|
8 Bright Jellies |
Farmed from the Bright Jelly event that Gwen introduces to you. Event locations are at:
|
Note that you can build more than one kitchen. However, each new one you build doubles the material cost, at least until the fourth copy.
How To Cook in the Kitchen
Step 1: Enter the kitchen and interact with the oven to open your recipe book, then pick a dish. This will display the ingredients that you need from your inventory.
Step 2: Pick the ingredient(s) that you need before confirming to start cooking. The regular kitchen can only use one ingredient, while the upgraded version can combine two ingredients.
Step 3: A timer will appear at the top of the oven, and you will need to wait for it to countdown to claim the dish. If you’re outside, an indicator in the kitchen will also appear if the food is done. Take it out in time and you’ll have your finished recipe.
Tip: Make sure to avoid leaving cooked dishes in the kitchen for long! Doing so will result in burnt food that you can’t eat.
While recipes are initially hidden at first, you can unlock them by either picking up the recipe from hidden chests, or just by cooking the ingredients needed to make the dish. The recipe book also states what category each dish falls under.
How To Improve the Kitchen
The Kitchen improvement upgrade is initially unlocked via Atul’s “Big Stove” request.
During this quest, he’ll hand you a blueprint that reveals the materials needed for the upgrade. This includes:

8 Lightnings in a Bottle | These are farmed via the Thunderstorms event that Atul introduces to you. |
12 Linen Fabrics |
Input linen fiber into the Loom to make linen thread, and put linen thread into the improved Loom to make linen fabric. You can grow linen fiber from linen seeds planted in the field, bought from:
|
Once the kitchen has been improved, you’ll gain the ability to cook recipes with two ingredients, unlocking more dishes to help please the spirits.
