You can get the Dark Lanner mount by acquiring a Dark Lanner Whistle from the Level 60 trial The Minstrel’s Ballad: Nidhogg’s Rage, also known as the Nidhogg EX trial. You can do this in two ways:
- Win the Dark Lanner Whistle from the Treasure Coffer after defeating Nidhogg EX. You can easily solo this trial with a high-level character. No need to roll against seven other people for the mount.
- Trade 99 Horde Totems with Bertana in Idyllshire (X:5.9 Y:5.2) or Rowena’s Representative in Foundation (X:10.5, Y:11.8). You get one Horde Totem for each clear, but unless you’re really unlucky, you won’t need to do this.
The Dark Lanner mount is also one of the seven Lanner mounts you’ll need to acquire to unlock the Firebird mount.
The Minstrel’s Ballad: Nidhogg’s Rage
Clearing The Minstrel’s Ballad: Nidhogg’s Rage trial is the main method of obtaining the Dark Lanner Whistle. It’s a Level 60 trial from patch 3.3 of the Heavensward expansion and can be easily soloed with a high-level character with updated gear.
You can read through our guide above to learn how to unlock and clear the trial – especially if you have other people you’d like to farm this trial with while synced.
At the end of each run, you’ll have a chance to get the Dark Lanner Whistle from the treasure coffer.
But you’ll also receive a Dark Totem after each clear, which you can trade with Bertana in Idyllshire (X:5.9 Y:5.2) or Rowena’s Representative in Foundation (X:10.5, Y:11.8) for weapons (10 totems) or the Dark Lanner Whistle (99 totems). Though you won’t likely ever need to clear the trial 99 times before you get the mount, especially if you’re clearing it alone.
Once you obtain the whistle, simply use it from your inventory to enjoy your new mount!
