Shisui of the Violet Tides is the second of six story dungeons introduced in patch 4.0 of the Stormblood expansion.

You can unlock it by accepting Level 63 MSQ “The Palace of Lost Souls” from Kurenai in The Ruby Sea (X:20.1, Y:20.1).

The anxious Kurenai will tell you about the arrival of a black-robed man at the Shisui of the Violet Tides who summoned a flood of voidsents to overrun the entire palace.

This incident forced Sui-no-sato’s high priest Shiosai to seal the palace away.

With no other way to defeat the mass of voidsents, Shiosai plans to destroy the palace for good.

Kurenai urges you to convince the high priest to let you delve into the palace and rid it of the invading voidsents.

Talk to Shiosai in The Ruby Sea (X:21.3, Y:19.5) to continue.

Shiosai agrees to let you inside and hands you a scroll that will grant you access to the palace.

However, should you fail to defeat the voidsents, Shiosai will move forward with his plan.

After talking to the high priest, follow Kurenai to the palace’s entrance at The Ruby Sea (X:2.3, Y:36.6) to unlock Shisui of the Violet Tides. This dungeon requires at least a Level 63 Disciple of War or Magic job and an average item level of 245 to enter.

Boss #1: Amikiri

Mechanics

  • Sharp Strike: A single-target attack that deals moderate damage to the primary tank.
  • Prey: The boss will mark one random player with “Prey.” After a few seconds, its target will be fettered, and the boss’ leg will become targetable. Destroy the leg to free the affected player. After destroying its leg, the boss will become incapacitated and receive a “Vulnerability Down” debuff.
  • Shuck: During “Prey,” the boss will slowly charge “Shuck” on the fettered player, a cleaving knockback attack that applies a 20-second “Concussion” DoT. Destroy the leg before this attack goes off, or the marked player will likely die.
  • Kamikiri: The boss will occasionally spawn “Kamikiri” mobs that can also use “Sharp Strike” and “Digestive Fluid.”
  • Digestive Fluid (Kamikiri): Targeted AoEs on random players that spawn “Dropsy” DoT puddles.

Before the start of the fight, determine which chest you’ll be using throughout the fight to handle incoming mechanics correctly.

Mechanics

  • Tornadogenesis: A cleaving tankbuster attack on the primary target. Face the boss away from the party at all times.
  • Seduce: The boss will move to the center and cast a large point-blank AoE that applies “Seduce” for seven seconds, causing players to walk toward her uncontrollably. To avoid this debuff, stand inside a chest to get the “Old” status.
  • Coriolis Kick: A large point-blank knockback AoE deals high damage. This attack always follows “Seduce.”
  • Abyssal Volcano + Geothermal Flatulence: The boss will mark two players for “Geothermal Flatulence” AoEs that follow the players around for a few seconds. At the same time, she’ll use “Abyssal Volcano,” a point-blank AoE. Run around the edges of the arena until the AoEs stop.

Boss #3: Shisui Yohi

Head of the invading voidsents (Shisui Yohi) / Final Fantasy XIV
Head of the invading voidsents (Shisui Yohi)

Mechanics

  • Foul Nail: A multi-hit tankbuster attack on the primary target. Shield and heal through the damage.
  • Thick Fog: A room-wide AoE attack that turns the floor to water. During this time, the boss will submerge underwater and swim around as indicated by circular ripples around the arena. This mechanic also spawns “Churn” bubbles that apply “Dropsy” DoTs to everyone. Destroy the bubbles to dispel the DoTs.
  • Black Tide: After “Thick Fog,” the boss will reemerge and use a non-telegraphed point-blank AoE that applies a stacking “Vulnerability Up” debuff for 50 seconds. Run away from the ripples to avoid the attack.
  • Bubble Burst (Churn): If the bubbles are left alive after the boss reemerges, they’ll explode into room-wide AoEs that apply “Damage Down” for 30 seconds.
  • Mad Stare: A room-wide look-away attack that applies “Hysteria” for seven seconds, causing affected players to run around uncontrollably. Face your character away from the boss before this attack goes off.
  • Naishi-no-Kami & Naishi-no-jo: Two sharks will target the healer and a DPS with “Bite and Run.” Kill the sharks before the attack goes off.
  • Bite and Run (Naishi mobs): An extending line AoE from the shark to its targeted player that deals very high damage. Kill the sharks as soon as possible.
