You can unlock the Level 73 dungeon Dohn Mheg by accepting the Level 73 MSQ “The Key to the Castle” from Sul Uin in Il Mheg (X:14.3, Y:31.1). This MSQ is part of the patch 5.0 main storyline for the Shadowbringers expansion.
In the guide below we’ll show you how to complete this unlocking quest, and we’ll cover all the boss mechanics that you’ll encounter in this dungeon.
Unlocking Quest: The Key to the Castle
The Level 73 MSQ “The Key to the Castle” is deep within the patch 5.0 Main Scenario Questline for the Shadowbringers expansion. You’ll need to finish every MSQ leading up to it before it can be unlocked.
This includes every MSQ from A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood.
Once you’ve done that, speak with Sul Uin in Il Mheg (X:14.3, Y:31.1) to begin.

In this MSQ, the scions are on a quest to defeat the lightwarden of Il Mheg.
You’ll learn from Sul Uin that their King Titania became corrupted after defeating the original lightwarden and became one himself.
This unfortunate event led to the pixies sealing the castle to prevent further harm to their land.
A seal divided into four relics was made and scattered across the land.
The first relic of these relics is the Shell Crown, which is kept within the Fuath’s territory. Sul Uin will allow you and your friends to attempt to retrieve it “for good sport.”
Head to the Untouchable Gate in Il Mheg (X:24.1, Y:30.5) to continue.

In the cutscene that follows, you’ll call out to the Fuath through the gate.
After initially getting ignored and having a laugh at Urianger’s inability to swim, the Fuath will eventually invite you into their domain.
Should you brave Dohn Mheg and give the frog-like tribesmen a thrilling sport, they’ll lend you the Shell Crown.
Once the cutscene is finished then Dohn Mheg will be unlocked. This dungeon requires at least a Level 73 Disciple of War or Magic job and an average item level of 375 to enter.
Boss #1: Aenc Thon, Lord of the Lingering Gaze

Mechanics
- Candy Cane: A strong tankbuster attack on the primary target.
- Hydrofall: Up to two players will be targeted with ground AoEs that apply stacking “Vulnerability Up” debuffs for 60 seconds.
- Laughing Leap: This attack will either be a ground AoE or a stack marker on a random player.
- Landsblood: The boss will spawn small water puddles around the room. Each puddle will eventually bubble up before exploding, knocking players up for two seconds. Move away from the bubbling puddles to avoid getting stun-locked.

Boss #2: Griaule

Mechanics
- Rake: A single-target tankbuster attack on the primary target.
- Swinge: A frontal cone AoE that applies a stacking “Vulnerability Up” debuff for 60 seconds.
- Fodder: The boss will spawn saplings that will tether to it. If left unattended, the saplings will give the boss a stacking “Growing” buff for 600 seconds that increases its damage dealt and reduces its damage taken.
Take the tether from the boss to sever the connection and receive the buff yourself. Note that you can only grow up to two times with this buff. You’ll receive a “Full-Grown” buff after the second tether you’ve taken. - Tiiiimbeeeer: A room-wide AoE attack.
- Coiling Ivy: Four “Painted Ivy” plants will fetter all players. You can still attack the ivies while fettered. Destroy them immediately to avoid incoming AoEs.

Boss #3: Aenc Thon, Lord of the Lengthsome Gait

Mechanics
- Crippling Blow: A red tankbuster marker on the primary target.
- Virtuosic Capriccio: A room-wide AoE attack that applies a 12-second “Bleeding” DoT.
- Imp Choir: A lookaway attack that can transform players into imps for eight seconds. Face your character away from the boss to avoid.
- Toad Choir: A non-telegraphed 160-degree frontal cone that turns players into frogs for 8 seconds. Run behind the boss to avoid.
- Funambulist’s Fantasia: A room-wide AoE attack that will knock players back to the south and transform the arena, spawning a narrow walkway on top of a huge chasm in the middle. Across the room, the boss will begin casting “Finale.”
Make your way through the walkway and destroy the boss’ “Liar’s Lyre” to interrupt the cast and stagger the boss for a few seconds. Should you fall in the chasm, you’ll return respawn on the other side and be stunned for three seconds before you can try again. - Finale: A room-wide AoE that will instantly kill anyone outside the boss’ barrier. Destroy the “Liar’s Lyre” to interrupt the cast. If you can’t destroy the lyre in time, stay inside the barrier to survive.
- Changeling’s Fantasia: The boss will transform into a “Shade of Fear,” a throwback to Cuchulainn boss from the 24-man raid The Void Ark. If the fight lasts long enough for the boss to cast this a second time, it’ll transform into a tiny frog instead.
- Bile Bombardment: Up to two players will be targeted with large ground AoEs.
- Corrosive Bile: A continuous non-telegraphed frontal cone AoE. Move away from the boss’ mouth to avoid.
- Flailing Tentacles: The boss will raise its four tentacles up before slamming them onto the ground, applying a 15-second “Concussion” DoT to anyone hit. Dispel the DoT as necessary.
