Pokémon Crystal Grooming Guide (Haircut Brothers + Daisy Oak)

Daisy Oak (left) and the Pokémon Salon (right)

Grooming is one of the main ways to make your Pokémon happier and raise their Friendship.

You can groom your Pokémon with two different grooming NPCs: once at the Haircut Brothers’ Salon and once at Daisy Oak’s home in Pallet Town.

  • Haircut Brothers: Located in the Goldenrod Underground (Johto)
  • Daisy Oak: Located at Blue’s House in Pallet Town (Kanto)

Ideally you’d want to visit both of these NPCs every day if you’re trying to make a Pokémon friendlier fast.

In this guide we’ll provide directions to find these Pokémon Stylists & details on how they work. You can also read through our friendship guide to dive deeper into this hidden stat.

The Haircut Brothers (Tuesday to Sunday)

The Haircut Brothers run a Pokémon Grooming business in the Goldenrod Underground.

Getting there is simple. From the Pokémon Center in Goldenrod City, go north, then turn left at the first opportunity.

Follow the road as it bends southward, and you’ll soon see the entrance to the Goldenrod Underground to the right. It’s the small building under the old man.

Depending on the day of the week, you’ll bump into the Older or Younger Brother.

Sunday Younger

Talk to whichever brother is minding the shop to get your Pokémon a haircut. The Younger Brother charges less than his older sibling.

The amount of Friendship gained from the Haircut Brothers varies. This is mostly random, but some results are more likely than others.

You’ll know how it went based on their comments as they return your Pokémon.

Here’s a look at the Older Brother’s performance:

And then here’s a table of details for the younger brother:

It makes sense to favor the Older Brother until your Pokémon reaches 200 Friendship points, then move to the Younger Brother to save some money.

Daisy Oak (Everyday, 3PM-4PM)

You’ll find Daisy Oak at Blue’s House in Kanto’s Pallet Town.

Blue’s House is east of Red’s House and north of Prof. Oak’s Lab.

Daisy will offer to groom your Pokémon for free once per day. But she will only offer this if you visit her between 3PM-4PM on any given day.

Although she can’t reach the same heights as the Haircut Brothers, she’s much more reliable.
