There are three different ways to obtain a White Herb in Pokémon ORAS.
The first method involves visiting Route 104. You can obtain a free White Herb by talking to a Schoolgirl outside the Flower Shop.
The second method involves exploring Sea Mauville just north of Route 108. You can find the White Herb on the right side of the ship’s interior, in a corridor that’s only accessible with Pokémon that can use HM03 Surf and HM07 Dive.
Lastly, you can obtain unlimited White Herbs by visiting the Battle Maison’s Exchange Service Corner. Here you can trade 32 Battle Points (BP) for each White Herb.
Method 1: Route 104 Schoolgirl
Located in western Hoenn, Route 104 has two sections: north and south, separated by the Petalburg Woods in the middle.
You can access the route from Petalburg City in the south and Rustboro City in the north.
At the northern part of Route 104, a Schoolgirl NPC outside the route’s Flower Shop has a White Herb that she’ll give to you. Just talk to her and the item is yours!
To get to the Schoolgirl’s location, start by heading to Petalburg City’s Pokémon Center:
Step 1: Exit Petalburg City by following the path heading west.
Step 2: When you get to Route 104, move north toward Petalburg Woods.
Step 3: Take a left and look for the entrance to Petalburg Woods up north.
Step 4: Once you’re inside the forest, follow the winding path that goes north until you find the exit.
Step 5: You’ll eventually find the northern exit of Petalburg Woods. Go through it to end up on the north end of Route 104.
Step 6: When you’re back outside, find the Schoolgirl near the Flower Shop and talk to her to get a free White Herb.
Method 2: Sea Mauville
Sea Mauville is a half-sunken decommissioned research facility located north of Route 108.
To obtain the White Herb in Sea Mauville, you’ll need to first complete these prerequisites:
- Win the seventh Gym Badge from Mossdeep City to use Dive outside of combat
- Have a Pokémon that knows HM03 Surf
- Have a Pokémon that knows HM07 Dive
If you’re ready, start by flying to Sea Mauville’s entrance:
Step 1: From the entrance of Sea Mauville, surf to the side of the ship up ahead. Walk along the hallway to reach the ship’s main deck.
Step 2: Once you’re on the main deck, enter the doorway that takes you inside the ship.
Step 3: When inside, take a left and stroll straight down until you reach the end of the corridor.
Step 4: Use HM03 Surf on the water at the corridor’s end; then Dive at the spot where the water gets dark.
Step 5: Now you’re underwater. Follow the path heading south until you reach a corner.
Step 6: Turn right at the corner and continue eastward along the path.
Step 7: When you reach the next corner, follow the path that leads north.
Step 8: At the end of the path, return to the surface of the water by using Dive again.
Step 9: Once back on the surface, head north through the corridor.
Step 10: Finally, take a left near two kids and you’ll find a White Herb on the ground next to some crates at the end of the path.
Method 3: Battle Maison’s BP Shop
The Battle Maison operates similarly to the Battle Tower from previous generations.
If you don’t know where the Battle Maison is, just head over to the Battle Resort’s Pokémon Center to get started.
Step 1: From the Battle Resort’s Pokémon Center, proceed slightly east and then head up the staircase at the nearby intersection.
Step 2: After going up the stairs, just keep going north and enter the Battle Maison.
Step 3: Once you’re inside, you’ll see two staircases going upstairs. Head up the right one.
Step 4: On the second floor you’ll find one of the Exchange Service Corner’s attendants. If you’ve got at least 32 BP then you can purchase the White Herb from her.
This can be done an unlimited number of times.
What Do White Herbs Do?
The White Herb is a consumable held item that restores a Pokémon’s lowered stat stages to normal when they have been reduced by a move or an ability.
This item can be used to restore stats reduced from moves such as Leaf Storm or Draco Meteor, which lower Special Attack by two stages – and it can be used to counter abilities like Intimidate, which lowers Attack by one stage.
This item is particularly useful in competitive battles where disruptive stat changes are often common.
Tip: Another popular strategy involves pairing the White Herb with the move Shell Smash, which sharply boosts the user’s Attack, Special Attack, and Speed, while lowering their Defense and Special Defense. With the White Herb you can undo the stat drops caused by Shell Smash, allowing your Pokémon to benefit from the increased offensive capabilities without suffering the defensive drawbacks.
