Solarbeam Details + Uses

Solarbeam Move Details
Type Grass
Power 120
Accuracy 100%
PP 10 (max. 16)
Effect User “takes in sunlight” on turn 1 and attacks on turn 2.

With 120 power, Solarbeam is the strongest Grass type move in the game. The downside is that Solarbeam takes a turn to charge before attacking.

While the move is powerful, two turn attacks like this give your opponent an opportunity to counter.

For example:

While Solarbeam is charging, your opponent can switch to a Grass resistant Pokémon like a Fire or Flying type.

Using Solarbeam can also leave your Pokémon an easy target for attacks and status inflicting moves such as Thunder Wave or Sleep Powder.

Solarbeam is a good move to teach if you’ve got a Grass type Pokémon or a Pokémon with a good special stat on your team. But since it can leave your Pokémon vulnerable to enemy attacks it’s good to have a plan in place when using it.
