The Ancient Fossil is a rare non-fish item that can be caught during Autumn at Mineral Town Beach. But you’ll need to use a Cursed Fishing Rod (or higher) to catch it.
So as long as you’re in Autumn, the Ancient Fossil can be found in the Ocean by casting your Cursed/Blessed/Mythic Fishing Rod into the waters of Mineral Beach.
Then this item can be sold to Huang for up to 5,700 G, or used in the Summer Sun recipe.
How To Get Ancient Fossils
Step 1: Get the Cursed Fishing Rod (or Blessed/Mythic)
The Cursed Fishing Rod is a tool that can be dug up on the 29th level of the Lake Mine. You must already have a Mithril Fishing Rod in your toolbox to discover the Cursed version.
Once you find this tool, you can’t unequip it until you remove the curse.
You can use this by itself to catch the Ancient Fossil, but you should probably upgrade it to its Blessed version first to avoid fainting from exhaustion.
To get the Blessed Rod you’ll just need to cast your Cursed Fishing Rod a total of 50 times.
Step 2: Fish at Mineral Beach in Autumn
After you get the required upgrades for your fishing rod, you can head to Mineral Beach and start looking for the Ancient Fossil.
To get to Mineral Beach, follow the stairs east of Rose Plaza.
Just make sure it’s Autumn, because you won’t be able to catch Ancient Fossils in any other season.
The Ancient Fossil can be caught multiple times, just like the Pirate Treasure.
Ancient Fossil Uses
Selling Ancient Fossils
You can just drop each Ancient Fossil in the Shipping Bin to get an easy 5,000 G.
However, if you want to maximize profits you can also sell it to Huang for anywhere between 4,800 and 5,700 G.
If Huang doesn’t offer the price you want on your first try, you can keep rejecting his offers until you reach a bid that you like.
Summer Sun Recipe
Another use for the Ancient Fossil is to craft a Summer Sun.
This is an item that can be sold to Huang for up to 27,000 G.
To make Summer Sun, you’ll need a:
- Small Fish
- Medium Fish
- Large Fish
- Pirate Treasure
- Ancient Fossil
