SoS: FoMT Axe Tool Guide (How To Upgrade + How To Use It)

The Axe is the only tool you can use in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town to chop down old tree stumps or remove branches.

You can’t harvest Lumber from fully-grown trees, but you can get lumber by using the Axe on tree branches and stumps. So this is a crucial tool for getting all of your farm building upgrades.

How To Use the Axe

The most basic use for the Axe is to remove the debris on your farm at the start of your game.

Each swing of the basic Axe will cost you 2 STA.

Each branch will turn into one piece of Lumber.

Aside from the branches, you can also use the Axe on the stumps scattered around Mineral Town & in your field. But to break stumps, you’ll need to upgrade to at least a Copper Axe first.

You’ll need to collect lumber (and material stone) to purchase upgrades at Gotts’ Workshop.

Note: Small branches/debris will also spawn in the South Forest, Meadow, and Mineral Beach.
