FFXIV Vanaspati: Unlock + Dungeon Boss Guide

Vanaspati burns during the final days (FFXIV)

The Level 85 dungeon Vanaspati can be unlocked by accepting the Level 85 MSQ “Skies Aflame” from Tataru in Old Sharlayan (X:9.1, Y:11.3). This MSQ is part of the patch 6.0 main storyline for the Endwalker expansion.

Step-by-Step Unlock Guide

  1. Accept the Level 85 MSQ “Skies Aflame” from Tataru in Old Sharlayan (X:9.1, Y:11.3).
  2. Enter the Main Hall inside the Baldesion Annex nearby.
  3. Travel to Thavnair.
  4. Speak with Ahewann in Thavnair (X:25.4, Y:36.5).

Detailed Unlocking Guide

Vanaspati is the third story dungeon made available in patch 6.0 of the Endwalker expansion and is locked behind the Level 85 MSQ “Skies Aflame.”

This quest can only be accepted after completing every MSQ leading up to it, including MSQs from previous expansions.

Once that’s all set, speak with Tataru in Old Sharlayan (X:9.1, Y:11.3) before entering the Main Hall to begin unlocking Vanaspati.

At this point in the main story, the Final Days have begun. Krile reports of vile beasts seemingly appearing out of thin air throughout Etheirys while the sky burns aflame.

Thancred suggests the party makes its way to Yedlihmad to prepare for what lies ahead. Travel to Thavnair to trigger a cutscene.

Beasts from the days of old known as Blasphemies resurface as the Final Days envelope the world. Citizens of Thavnair run for their lives and the ones overcome by fear turn into beasts themselves.

Ahewann reports that the largest of these abominations rampaged toward the northern settlement of Vanaspati.

Vrtra has already flown there to deal with the threat and will need your assistance.

After the cutscene, speak with Ahewann once more in Thavnair (X:25.4, Y:36.5) to go over the plan of attack. Then, Vanaspati will be unlocked. This dungeon requires at least a Level 85 Disciple of War or Magic job and an average item level of 510 to enter.

Boss #1: Terminus Snatcher

Mechanics

  • Last Gasp: A red tankbuster marker on the primary target. Mitigate and heal through the damage.
  • Note of Despair: A room-wide AoE attack.
  • Mouth Off: Mouths will spawn all over the arena. Stand on the closed mouths to avoid incoming circle AoEs that apply stacking “Vulnerability Up” debuffs for 60 seconds.
  • What Is Right or What is Left: A 180-degree attack on one of the boss’ flanks that applies a stacking “Vulnerability Up” debuff for 60 seconds.
  • Lost Hope: Each player will receive a “Temporary Misdirection” debuff for 14 seconds. This debuff places a spinning arrow on top of a player’s head and will stop spinning when the player moves, allowing them to only move toward the direction of the arrow.
This debuff will coincide with the “Mouth Off” mechanic. Time your movement so the arrow is pointed toward a closed mouth, allowing you to run to safety.
  • Wallow: Targeted circle AoEs on all players. Spread out to avoid overlap. This mechanic will only be used during “What Is Right” or “What is Left.”

Mechanics

  • Total Wreck: A red tankbuster marker on the primary target. Shield and heal through the damage.
  • Meaningless Destruction: A room-wide AoE attack. Its first cast will also cover the outer ring of the arena in fire that will apply a 30-second “Burns” DoT to anyone that wanders into it.
  • Unholy Water: The boss will summon six water bubbles throughout the arena. Touching the bubble will result in a “Fetter” debuff, a “Water Resistance Down II” debuff, and a “Fire Resistance Up” buff for eight seconds each. Keep these bubbles in mind for upcoming mechanics.
  • Aether Siphon + Aether Spray: The boss will siphon one of two elements: water or fire. Then, it’ll use “Aether Spray,” a mechanic that’ll have a different effectdepending on the element that was siphoned.
    • Aether Spray (Water): A room-wide AoE attack from the center that knocks players back. Stand near the center while making sure you’ll be knocked back away from the water bubbles. You can also use knockback-immunity skills and just heal through the damage.
    • Aether Spray (Fire): A room-wide AoE attack that deals massive fire damage and applies a stacking “Vulnerability Up” debuff for 60 seconds. Run toward a water bubble to receive the “Fire Resistance” buff and survive. The water bubbles will dissipate after the AoE goes off.
  • Poison Heart: A stack marker on a random player. Stand with the affected player to share incoming damage.

Boss #3: Svarbhanu

Svarbhanu - Blasphemy / Final Fantasy XIV
Svarbhanu – Blasphemy

On the first use of “Chaotic Pulse,” the outer edges of the arena will turn into a danger zone that applies a 14-second “Bleeding” DoT to anyone that stands in it.

Mechanics

  • Flames of Decay: A room-wide AoE attack.
  • Chaotic Pulse + Aetherial Disruption: The boss will divide the arena into four rows. Each row will have one of two aetherial elements indicated by red and blue. You’ll also see either a red circle or a blue triangle on your screen.
You’ll need to stand on the opposite colored row of your aetherial element to avoid taking damage and receiving a 60-second stacking “Vulnerability Up” debuff.
  • Gnashing of Teeth: A red tankbuster marker on the primary target. Use mitigation skills and heal through the damage.
  • Crumbling Sky: Either a room-wide knockback attack from the center or targeted circle AoEs on all players. This mechanic will often overlap with “Aetherial Disruption.” Use knockback-immunity skills as needed and spread those AoE circles out. Later in the fight, both variations will be used at the same time.
  • Crumbling Sky + Cosmic Kiss: The boss will fly off the arena and summon meteors that will tumble down for column attacks. Getting hit by a meteor will knock you back and apply a stacking “Vulnerability Up” debuff for 60 seconds.
At the same time, “Cosmic Kiss” ground AoEs will spawn that also apply more of the same debuffs on hit. Move away from the meteors’ paths while avoiding the ground AoEs.
