Gym Puzzle Solution
Ecruteak Gym features an invisible floor puzzle leading from the entrance to Gym Leader Morty.
There’s only one way through the invisible floor. Any other route will teleport you back to the beginning, so take a look at the following image for the exact solution.
Tips for Beating Morty
- Level Up Your Team to Around Level 25: Most of Morty’s Pokémon are Level 23 or lower. Still, you don’t want to be caught off-guard by his ace: a Lv. 25 Gengar with Shadow Ball.
- Bring Normal-type Pokémon With Non-Normal Moves: Normal-type Pokémon are immune to Ghost-type moves, which limits Morty’s team. Regrettably, Normal-type moves are useless against Ghost-types. You want a Normal-type Pokémon that knows Ground, Psychic, or Dark-type moves. Any move that isn’t Grass, Poison, or Bug-type works too. Consider teaching TM31 Mud-Slap to Raticate or Pidgeotto if you’re having trouble here.
- Get Some Awakening Potions: Besides Shadow Ball, Gengar can hurt you by putting your Pokémon to sleep with Hypnosis and then using Dream Eater to deal damage. Buy some Awakening potions from Ecruteak’s PokéMart to wake up your Pokémon and counteract Morty’s strategy.
Rewards for Defeating Morty
Morty will give you the following rewards after you win the battle:
- Fog Badge
- TM30 Shadow Ball
- 2,300 PokéDollars
The Fog Badge has the following effects:
- Lets your Pokémon use Surf outside of battle to cross bodies of water
- Makes sure all Pokémon up to Level 50 follow your commands in battle
