Dig Move Details
Type Ground
Category Physical
Power 60
Accuracy 100
PP 10

Dig is a Physical Ground-type move that boasts 80 base Power and perfect Accuracy. The attack takes two turns to complete, which can help you build some interesting strategies with this move.

  1. On the first turn, the user burrows underground
  2. On the second turn, the user surfaces and hits its target

Burrowing underground provides the user with a semi-invulnerable turn where most attacks will not affect it. This can be an effective method in protecting yourself against hard-hitting moves that you know are coming up.

Diglett and Dugtrio are the only Ground-types that can learn Dig via level-up in FireRed & LeafGreen.

So it’s worth holding onto TM28 to teach it to a different Pokémon in your party.

Marowak and Rhydon are both solid Physical attackers that can benefit from Dig’s STAB, and they can wield Dig well in battle.
