You can get Everstones in several ways in Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. But the simplest option is to pick up the free Everstone hidden inside a large rock on Granite Cave’s B2F basement floor.

Alternatively you could also steal Everstones from wild Geodudes or Gravelers, since these both can carry the item and they’re both available before the post-game.

But we’ll cover every method in detail so you can decide where you’d like to pick up your Everstones.

Method #1: Granite Cave

One Everstone can be found on the second basement floor of the Granite Cave. This cave is located northwest of Dewford Town. This method is also the easiest way to obtain an Everstone if you don’t have one yet.

But you’ll need these items first before you can reach the Everstone’s location:

Granite Cave has muddy slopes that can only be traversed with the Mach Bike. The Everstone is also hidden, so using the Dowsing Machine can make it easier to locate it.

But once you’re all good, here’s where to find the Everstone in the Granite Cave:

Step 1: Fly to Dewford Town. Then from the Pokémon Center go north toward Route 106.

Step 2: On Route 106, head west. You’ll find the entrance to the Granite Cave in the corner.

Step 6: You’ll find two more muddy slopes here, so equip the Mach Bike again and go up the slopes.

Step 7: Head east down the pathway and then go back down another slope with your Mach Bike.

Step 8: From here, go south and take another ladder down to reach the second basement level (B2F).

From the ladder, go up and follow the path west from here.

Step 10: Take the small set of stairs here (pictured below) and go northeast on the elevated platform.

Step 11: You’ll soon see a small platform with a staircase and a big brown rock in the middle of the platform.

The Everstone is found directly at the big boulder here (circled below).

You can interact with it to get your Everstone, or you can use the Dowsing Machine – once it glows red you’ll be able to pick up the Everstone.

Method #2: Inverse Battle Stop in Mauville City

Another way to obtain Everstones is by participating in Inverse Battles and earning 7-9 points in the Inverse Battle Stop.

You can find this shop on the east side of Mauville City.

Once a day, you can challenge Proprietor Inver (circled below) to an Inverse Battle. During an Inverse Battle, type matchups are reversed: super effective moves won’t be very effective, and vice versa.

After defeating Inver, he will give you a random item based on your score.

Here’s how the score is calculated:

  • +1 point for Super Effective moves you give
  • -1 point for Super Effective moves you take

There are different reward pools depending on your score.

If you gain 7-9 points in the battle, the reward pool includes evolution stones (one of them being an Everstone).

Note: If none of your Pokémon faints after the battle, Inver will give you three random items. Otherwise you’ll only receive one item.

Method #3: “Pick up Stones” in Super-Secret Base

You can obtain Everstones from your Super-Secret Base by recruiting a Secret Pal and using one of their special skills called “Pick up Stones.”

When you visit other people’s Secret Bases in ORAS, you will meet different Trainer classes representing their players.

You can invite them back to your base and ask them to perform a special skill once a day. Their special skill depends on their Trainer class and your base’s rank.

“Pick up Stones” allows you to ask your Secret Pal to clean up your base and find evolution stones for you, possibly including an Everstone.

Method #4: Held Item by on Geodude, Graveler, Roggenrola, and Boldore

The last method involves stealing Everstones as held items from wild Pokémon with a stealing move, such as Thief.

Both a Geodude and a Graveler have a 5% chance of carrying an Everstone, while a Roggenrola and Boldore have a 50% chance.

But Geodude and Graveler are the only options available before the Elite Four, so if you want Everstones before the post-game you’ll have to choose between those two Pokémon.

How Everstones Work

Viewing the Everstone in-game / Pokémon ORAS
Viewing the Everstone in-game.

When held by a Pokémon, the Everstone prevents its holder from evolving. It is classified as one of the evolution stones in the game.

Note that an Everstone does not prevent evolution with other evolution stones. So for example, if you use a Fire Stone on a Vulpix holding an Everstone, it will still evolve to Ninetales.

It also can’t prevent Kadabra from evolving to Alakazam when traded.

Breeding with Everstones

Most trainers use Everstones mainly used for breeding. If the holder is a female Pokémon or a Ditto, it will pass down its nature to its offspring.
