You can get TM75 Swords Dance by speaking with a Black Belt NPC outside the Poké Mart in Lavaridge Town. The NPC will ask you a question, and if you answer “No”, he’ll reward you with the TM for Swords Dance.
Keep in mind that you can only access Lavaridge Town through Jagged Pass, which is the path leading down from Mt. Chimney.
As for the move itself: Swords Dance is a powerful move that can significantly boost the user’s Attack stat. When used once, it doubles the user’s Attack stat, making it a valuable tool for enhancing your offensive capabilities. Swords Dance is most effective when used by naturally fast Pokémon.
TM75 Swords Dance Location (Step-by-Step)
After you’ve dealt with Team Aqua/Magma at Meteor Falls, you can return to Route 112 and head towards Lavaridge Town to get your TM.
If you’ve never been here before and can’t use Fly yet, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you out:
Step 1: Begin by heading west on the path towards the base of Mt. Chimney.
Step 2: Then go north past the Camper and climb the staircase.
Step 3: Once you’ve climbed up, head northeast to reach the Cable Car station.
Step 4: Inside the Cable Car Station, talk to the attendant to take the Cable Car up to the summit of Mt. Chimney.
Step 5: Watch the cutscene during the ride and then exit the station.
Step 6: If this is your first time here, the south entrance to Jagged Pass will be blocked by Team Aqua/Magma grunts. Head to the mountain’s crater first and defeat them to pass through.
Step 7: Once you’ve reached Jagged Pass, head south to reach Route 112’s west side.
Step 8: After that, go down the ledges and take the left slope.
Step 9: After sliding down the slope and going down another ledge, keep heading south and take the rightmost slope downwards.
Step 10: After going down the last ledge, exit Jagged Pass by descending the staircase near the Camper.
Step 11: Once you’re on Route 112’s west side just follow the path to the left. You’ll soon arrive at Lavaridge Town.
Step 12: Upon arriving at Lavaridge Town, you’ll see the Poké Mart directly above you. Outside of the Mart is a Black Belt who will ask you a question.
Respond with “No” to receive the TM for Swords Dance.

Swords Dance is a Normal-type Status move that raises the user’s Attack by two stages. Each stat can be raised and lowered up to six times. Here’s how much each stage modifies your Pokémon’s Attack stat:
Stage | Main Stat |
---|---|
0 | x1 |
1 | x1.5 |
2 | x2.0 |
3 | x2.5 |
4 | x3.0 |
5 | x3.5 |
6 | x4.0 |
Swords Dance is a powerful move that can make Physical attacks more lethal, especially for setup sweepers.
Although many Pokémon can learn this move, Swords Dance works best on Pokémon with naturally high Speed stats since it’s easier to sweep your opponent’s team if you can outspeed them.
However, it’s also important to make sure your Swords Dance user has enough bulk to survive the turn you’re setting up, that way you can execute your strategy effectively.
