Appearing as a hedgehog, Alice is a mid- to late-game spirit that you can find at Mount Toroyama.
This guide will provide an in-depth breakdown and walkthrough of her complete quest line. We’re also including things like her characteristics, mood factors, and interests to make her stay on the ship a good one.
How To Get Alice
Step 1: Go to Mount Toroyama (X: -99, Y: 34) and talk to the spirit standing on the porch of a small house right after the two stairs. This is Alice.
Step 2: Upon talking to her, she will ask you to corral two sheep through the request “One Shoop, Two Sheep.”
Step 3: To make sheep follow you, simply go near them and feed them with whatever food you have in your inventory.
Step 4: After that, Alice will introduce herself to you, and she’ll ask you to find another sheep.
You can find another sheep in Gurenu Fields, the island right beside Mount Toroyama. Once you find the sheep, feed it and take it back to where Alice is.
Step 5: Next she will give you the “Coziest Cottage” request, asking for a house before she joins your ship.
Step 6: The blueprint for this building gets unlocked right away, and you can then build Alice’s Cottage. This requires:
- 12 Oak Planks
- 5 Linen Threads
- 4 Iron Ingots
Once the one-story cottage is built, go talk to her and Alice will join you aboard the ship.
From here, she reveals her true hedgehog form and you can follow her quest line. She will also immediately give you her Obol.
Alice’s Complete Quest Line
A Coat of Wool
For her first request, Alice will teach you how to shear sheep.
You can do this by interacting with any sheep and selecting “shear”. This rewards you with wool afterwards (as well as a key for a house in Mount Toroyama).
Alice will also suggest building a Sheep Corral to keep the sheep on your ship, and the request will end right after that.
Of Warts and Ropes
For her next request, Alice will want a wardrobe inside her cottage. You can find this upgrade in the improvement section of the blueprint station.
Here’s all the materials it requires:
- 5 Linen Fabrics
- 2 Iron Ores
- 2 Copper Ores
- 150 Glims
You can also read through our Alice’s Cottage guide for more information on where to get these items to complete the upgrade.
Once the wardrobe is built, talk to Alice again and she will ask you to change the colors of your clothes using the wardrobe.
Pick some random colors, and Alice will then give you the Periwinkle outfit to wear.
Confirm the outfit, and Alice will end this request and start the next one.
Apples and Oranges
For the next request, you need to build an Orchard.
So head back to Albert’s Shipyard and purchase the Craftsman blueprint upgrade. This requires:
- 10 Oak Planks
- 10 Linen Threads
- 1,000 Glims
After getting the upgrade, head to your blueprint station on the ship and build the Orchard.
This building requires the following materials:
- 8 Oak Planks
- 4 Nebula Threads
Once built, Alice will talk to you and request for some apple trees.
So head back to the island of Furogawa and purchase some apple seeds from the Raccoon Shop there. Each seed will cost a hefty 990 Glims.
Note: You only need to grow a minimum of 1 apple tree to complete this request.
Plant your seeds inside the Orchard and water accordingly. Of course, you can also play the “Plantasia Fantastica” minigame if you don’t want to wait that long.
Alice will then head inside, talk to you for a bit, and end the request.
Down the Rabbit Hole
Right after the last request, Alice will ask you to come with her on a short trip to the island of Nordweiler, located at X: -3, Y: 185.
Note that this island requires the Shipbreaker boat improvement from Albert’s Shipyard. Here’s everything you need to get the upgrade:
- 10 Iron Ingots
- 12 Oak Planks
- 18 Linen Fabrics
- 1 Spirit Flower
- 5 Slates
- 800 Glims
We also have more details in our Boat Improvement Guide, so read through that if you want a more in-depth breakdown of where to get these items.
After getting the upgrade, head to Nordweiler and talk to Alice on the dock.
Alice will then walk around and you’ll need to follow her, pausing three times to look at the sights and tell a story.
Once she gets down from the tall ladder, Alice will ask for your help, and you will need to walk her slowly back to the ship.
The request will end after getting back to the ship.
Taking the Low Road
Right after getting back to the ship, Alice will ask you to give her some space.
Then shortly after that, Gustav (if you already have him on the ship) will request for Alice’s cottage to be moved to the bottom of the ship, if it isn’t there already.
You can do this by going to your blueprint station and heading to the “edit” tab.
This brings up an interface where you can change the arrangement of the buildings on your ship (pictured below).
From here, you will now have to escort Alice every morning from her cottage to the front of the ship.
Then, during evenings, you will need to escort her back to her home.
The first time you walk Alice back home, she will also give you the “Annie’s Beach Outfit” item.
A Chilling Realization
Note: This request can be given to you by Alice even if the previous request (“Taking the Low Road”) is ongoing.
For “A Chilling Realization”, Alice will talk to you and ask for “old woolly,” which is a blanket.
So shear one of your sheep to get some wool fiber and turn it into wool thread at the Loom.
Then run the same wool thread in the Loom to make wool fabric.
Once that’s done, hand this over to Alice to end the request.
Annie’s Lost Hat
This request starts once you try to escort Alice to her home for the second time.
Upon talking to her, Alice will mistake you for her daughter Annie, and mention her red hat and beach outfit.
So head to Alice’s Cottage and put on the beach outfit, but change the hat color to red.
Then talk to Alice again and she will think you’re Annie, advancing the request.
Next, sail towards the Everdoor and talk to Alice (while still wearing the outfit) once you arrive.
Alice will say that it’s finally time to go, and you will need to walk her to the back of the ship.
The usual animation of Stella rowing the dinghy will play right after, and Alice will leave after a final hug. Once back on the ship, you can find her spirit flower inside her cottage.
Characteristics
As a loving stay-at-home mom, Alice was the first patient that died under Stella’s care when she worked as a nurse.
Since she spent most of her adult life looking after her children, she would never call Stella for requests. Instead, you will need to engage with her yourself.
This also means that Alice is pretty simple.
She loves getting hugs and eating her favorite food.
When in a good mood, she will shop for ingredients, pick fruit from the orchard, and play music on the ship. She will also tell you recipes.
Her food preferences are:
- Favorite food: Veggie-Pot Pie
- Likes: Dessert, Old-Fashioned Food
- Dislikes: Stimulants, Exotic Food, Acquired Taste
Mini-Game
With Alice comes the nebula event, where you will need to run around the ship and catch little pillbugs in order to harvest nebula fiber.
