FFXIV Alzadaal’s Legacy: How To Unlock + Dungeon Guide

You can unlock the Level 90 dungeon Alzadaal’s Legacy by accepting the Level 90 MSQ “Alzadaal’s Legacy” from Y’shtola in Thavnair (X:16.0, Y:34.0). This MSQ is part of the Main Scenario questline for patch 6.1 of the Endwalker expansion.

In this guide we’ll cover how to handle each of the boss’ mechanics in this dungeon, along with listing out all of the loot you can get along the way.

Unlocking Quest: Alzadaal’s Legacy

Alzadaal’s Legacy is an expert-level dungeon made available in patch 6.1 of the Endwalker expansion and can be unlocked by accepting the MSQ with the same name from Y’shtola in Thavnair (X:16.0, Y:34.0).

To unlock this MSQ, you’ll need to finish every MSQ leading up to it, including MSQs from previous expansions.

In this part of the story, you and your allies are determined to discover the treasures that lie within Alzadaal III’s treasure vault beneath the Bounty.

You’ll only have a short conversation at the shoreline before Alzadaal’s Legacy is unlocked. This dungeon requires at least a Level 90 Disciple of War or Magic job and an average item level of 560 to enter.

Boss #1: Ambujam

Mechanics

  • Big Wave: A room-wide AoE attack that applies a 12-second “Bleeding” DoT.
  • Tentacle Dig: The boss will thrust two of its tentacles underwater and draw rough outlines of where the large circle AoEs will form. Each AoE will apply a “Toxicosis” debuff that lasts for 15 seconds.
    To determine the safe spots, run the opposite way from where the boss’ tentacles start to curl underwater. Use “Sprint” so you can reposition quickly if needed once the telegraphs appear.
  • Toxic Fountain: Three sets of AoE markers that also apply “Toxicosis” for 15 seconds. Determine the order in which the AoEs appear and dodge accordingly.

Boss #2: Armored Chariot

Mechanics

  • Articulated Bits: A point-blank AoE attack that spawns a constant “Electrocution” puddle on the boss’ hitbox. At the same time, two sets of numbered “Armored Drudge” mobs will appear on the corners. Check which set of drudges will go off first to prepare for the next mechanic.
  • Assault Cannon + Reflect: The boss will spawn shields and point them toward the “Armored Drudges.” Then, these drudges will fire line AoEs toward the boss which will be reflected onto the floor, causing the quadrants in front of the drudges to be covered in AoEs that apply “Sustained Damage” DoTs for 15 seconds.
    To handle this mechanic, move to the quadrants opposite the shields. Later in the fight, additional drudges will fire line AoEs across the room, shrinking your safe spaces further.
  • Diffusion Ray: A room-wide AoE attack.
  • Graviton Cannons: Targeted circle AoEs on all players that overlaps with “Assault Cannon + Reflect.” Wait for the previous mechanic to resolve, then spread out to avoid overlap.
  • Rail Cannon: A tankbuster attack on the primary target. Mitigate and heal through the damage.

Boss #3: Kapikulu

Mechanics

After the boss uses “Billowing Bolts” for the first time, the outer edges of the arena will be covered in spikes, applying a constant “Stab Wound” DoT to anyone that walks into it.

  • Billowing Bolts: A room-wide AoE attack.
  • Spin Out: The boss will move to the north and pull players toward it. Then, it’ll spin everyone around like tops for 10 seconds, only allowing you to control your movement through a directional arrow on top of your head.
    At the same time, additional spikes will pop up inside the arena which you’ll need to avoid as it applies a 10-second “Stab Wound” DoT. You won’t be able to turn a corner quickly, so give yourself enough room when turning.
  • Crewel Slice: A tankbuster attack on the primary target. Shield and heal through the damage.
  • Wild Weave + Power Surge: The boss will drop green and yellow curtains from above. Then, it’ll tether to one of them, indicating which set of curtains will spawn circle AoEs underneath them. Each AoE will apply a stacking “Vulnerability Up” debuff for 60 seconds. Stand underneath the opposite-colored curtain to avoid getting hit.
  • Rotary Gale: Targeted circle AoEs on all players. Spread out to avoid overlapping damage.
  • Basting Blade: Starting from the second “Spin Out,” the boss will begin to use massive column attacks that apply stacking “Vulnerability Up” debuffs for 60 seconds. Spin away from the column attacks and spikes.
