Detailed Unlocking Guide

You can begin unlocking Hullbreaker Isle (Hard) by accepting the Level 50 quest “King of the Hull” from Bloezoeng in Mor Dhona (X:22.1, Y:8.7) and completing Hullbreaker Isle (Normal).

Once you’re done, continue doing your MSQs until you finish the Level 60 MSQ “Heavensward” from the Guidance Node in Azys Lla (X:16.0, Y:22.0).

This MSQ wraps up the main story for patch 3.0 of the Heavensward expansion and unlocks the endgame content for the expansion, including Hullbreaker Isle (Hard).

After all of that is completed, head to Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (X:11.0, Y:10.4) and accept the Level 60 quest “Storming the Hull” from Denston.

In the story, Grand Storm Marshal Eynzahr expresses his gratitude for your help in clearing Hullbreaker Isle.

You also learn that he petitioned the Admiral to turn the isle into a training ground for the Maelstrom, not wanting his finest people to get dull with administrative tasks.

Then he invites you to spar with them on the island.

After talking to the marshal, talk to Denston at Moraby Drydocks in Lower La Noscea (X:26.9, Y:36.0) to unlock Hullbreaker Isle (Hard).

This trial requires at least a Level 60 Disciple of War or Magic job and an average item level of 200 to enter.

  • Spread Shot: A non-telegraphed frontal cleave attack. Always face the boss away from the party.
  • Leg Graze + Grenado Shot: One random player will be marked for “Leg Graze,” which applies a “Heavy” debuff for seven seconds. Immediately after, the boss will use “Grenado Shot,” a strong circular AoE. Dispel the debuff so the affected player can run out of the AoE.
  • Firesand Keg + Lead Shot: Multiple kegs will spawn over time that can be pushed with regular attacks. Periodically, the boss will target a keg with “Lead Shot,” making it explode into a point-blank AoE. Drag the boss to one side of the arena and push the kegs away.
