Opal is part of Spiritfarer’s gemstone category, and is one of the more expensive and rare items you can find in the game.
It’s acquired via Francis’ “Opaleantoluous” errand, as well as marble mining with the improved tools ability and Hikarishima Lighthouse’s raccoon shop. Once acquired, you can use it to complete a couple of errands and requests.
Where To Get Opal
Here are all of the things you can do to get opal in Spiritfarer:
Hikarishima Lighthouse Raccoon Store
The easiest way to get opal, of course, is to just buy it from the Hikarishima Lighthouse Raccoon Store.
Fortunately, this island doesn’t require any prior ship improvements to reach, and is found at X: -137, Y: -14.
Once you’re there, you’ll find the Racoon Store immediately right beside the docks. There, you’ll be able to buy an opal for a whopping 3,000 Glims.
Opals can also be obtained by mining for marble. Before this, make sure that you have the improved tools ability, found in the Hidden Shrine at X: 220, Y: 167. You can also check our Improved Tools Ability Guide for additional help with this ability.
Once you have the improved tools ability, start mining the marble nodes found in these islands:
With the improved tools ability, each marble node you mine gives a high chance of also producing an opal.
For this method, visit Francis the Wandering Merchant and look for the “Opaleantoluous” errand.
Collecting the materials above and giving it to Francis will reward you with 1,500 Glims and 1 opal.
This is everything you can do with opals in the game:

If you want, you can also sell opal to any Raccoon Store for 1,500 Glims apiece.
