Elena is one of the late-game spirits that you can recruit aboard the ship. She is also the only spirit that will present Stella with difficult challenges to overcome.
To help you succeed in these challenges, we’ve outlined a full walkthrough covering all of Elena’s quests. We also added her characteristics, interests, and other helpful information further in this guide.
How To Get Elena

Before trying to get Elena, make sure you have already unlocked these abilities first:
Once you have these abilities, head on over to Albert’s Shipyard to purchase the Mist Cleaner 1000 boat improvement (in case you don’t have it yet). You can learn more about what you need for this upgrade in our Boat Improvement Guide.
After that, head towards the island of Crow’s End (X: -126, Y: -51). This is located in the World Map’s south-western side, at the bottom left.
Once you arrive on the island, here’s how to find Elena:
Step 1: Head left and jump towards the next landing up. Then make your way up the smaller platforms.

Step 2: Once you find a tent, bounce on its roof to reach the landing way up top.

Step 3: Next, ride the zipline going down to find a blue spirit standing beside a geyser. Talk to the spirit to make him throw a “bomb” and activate the geyser’s updraft.

Step 4: Use the updraft from the geyser to glide up and reach the next landing above.

Step 5: Once at the top, keep heading left on the landing and drop down once you find some construction platforms.

Step 6: Finally, ride the moving elevator up to the top where a spirit is waiting for you.
This is Elena, and she will immediately join your ship once you talk to her.

This begins Elena’s questline. She will also immediately give you an Obol once she’s on the ship.

Elena’s Complete Quest Line
Four Walls & A Roof

Immediately upon her arrival on the ship, Elena will ask for her own accommodations. This unlocks the blueprints for Elena’s Cubicle.
Here’s what you’ll need to build this house:
- 18 Pine Planks
- 2 Steel Sheets
- 22 Linen Fabrics
Once built, talk to her to complete the request.

Missing Credentials

This request will only appear if you don’t have the Dash ability yet (which you can find at the Greymist Peaks ability shrine).
However, this request will not appear if you have already unlocked the Dash ability prior to recruiting Elena.
If you have to complete the request, it simply involves you acquiring the Dash ability. So you can refer to our guide linked above if you need more info on how to get this ability & clear the quest.
Elena’s Dharma

For this next request, Elena will ask you to finish three challenges that you can find all over the map:
- Defeat the Gold Dragon in under 7 minutes.
- Catch a third of all deadly Pulsar Rays.
- Catch a third of severe Lightning Strikes.
The First Challenge
For the first challenge, you will need the Dash ability (which we covered above). If you already have this ability, then head on over to the Gold Dragon in X: 120, Y: 111.

Once you arrive, talk to Elena to start the challenge. The challenge itself is similar to previous dragons you had to defeat during Summer’s questline.
Here are some tips to help you:
- Utilize your double-jump all of the time.
- Make sure you use dash as much as you can.
- When in the water, you can also reach the dragon by double-jumping and dashing towards it.
- Each gold lore only takes one medium-power hit from your pickaxe.

After you defeat the Gold Dragon, talk to Elena again to end the first challenge.
The Second Challenge
Next up, head to (X: 194, Y: 127) in the World Map’s north-eastern area to start the Deadly Pulsar Rays challenge.

During this challenge, pulsar rays change directions much more often, but you get more rays shooting down on your ship.
Fortunately your lightburst ability will also come in handy during this challenge & will help you reach more rays.
To complete this challenge, you need to catch at least 13 pulsar rays.

Once you finish the event, Elena will congratulate you. She will also give you a treasure map, but we’ll come back to this later.
The Third Challenge
Finally, for the last challenge you will need to head towards (X: -144, Y: -79) for the Severe Thunderstorms event.

This is also similar to the Thunderstorms event that Atul will introduce to you early in the game, but here are some tips to keep in mind:
- Make a long flat surface on your ship where you can easily run from one end to the next. This helps you get more lightning strikes on the same level.
- Wait for closer lightning strikes rather than chasing far ones.
- Maximize abilities like dash and double jump.
To complete this event, you need to catch at least 17 lightning strikes.

Once you’re done, Elena will talk to you again to end the request. She will also give you another treasure map.
The Treasure Maps
Now it’s time to look for the items those two treasure maps point to.
The locations include:
- X: 40, Y: -50
- X: 34, Y: 69

The first location (X: 40, Y: -50) is located just below Alt Harbor, the game’s starting point.
Once you arrive, just dive in the glowing part of the water to retrieve 1 Rare Coin Collection.

The next set of coordinates (X: 34, Y: 69) can be found just on the left side of Albert’s Shipyard.
Once again, dive in the glowing part of the water to retrieve 1 Marriage Ring.
Once you have both items, simply talk to Elena and give her either one of the items to end the request.

On The Sea of Tranquility

Just a day after the last request, Elena will ask to be taken to the Everdoor.
So as usual, sail over to the middle of the map and talk to Elena again so she can get on the dinghy and start Stella’s usual rowing animation.
After a final hug, Elena will then disappear, and you will find yourself back on the ship. Elena’s spirit flower can be found inside her cubicle.

Characteristics

As a former strict teacher, Elena was one of Stella’s final patients when she was a nurse. Elena is also very harsh and complains a lot.
She’s also rarely impressed by Stella, and criticizes her a lot too.
What’s more, Elena is also the only spirit that doesn’t like being hugged.
In fact, the best way to improve her mood is to just leave her alone and avoid making any improvements on her house. Unfortunately, this doesn’t lead to any discernible perk on your part.
Her food preferences are:
- Favorite: Green Salad
- Likes: Plain Food, Healthy Food
- Dislikes: Fine Dining Food, Meat, Fried Food
But Elena also brings three events alongside her. These events are:
- Deadly Pulsar Rays
- Severe Thunderstorms
- Gold Dragon
All three provide a good challenge, and they each reward you with valuable resources you can use.
