Effect Allows Stella to dash forward. Can be used while running or jumping.

Dash is usually the fifth ability that you can unlock when playing Spiritfarer. So before acquiring this ability you’ll typically unlock these ones first: Double Jump, Glide, Zipline, and Bounce.

As the name suggests, Dash lets you dash forward much quicker. You can do this on the ground or in mid-air. Either way, this allows you to move a bit further than you’d normally be able to & it can help you get into hard-to-reach places.

You can also use Dash in tandem with other abilities.

Getting Dash

Start by unlocking the Mist Cleaner 1000 improvement from Albert’s Shipyard / Spiritfarer
Start by unlocking the Mist Cleaner 1000 improvement from Albert’s Shipyard.

Much like the abilities you’ve already unlocked, you need two more obols to get Dash.

And you’ll get more obols exactly the same way: by recruiting more spirits. At this point in the game you’ll generally be able to get obols just from these spirits:

Note: Bruce & Mickey will give two Obols instead of just one. Also, you can purchase an Obol from the Edgeborough Lane Raccoon Shop for 2,000 Glims (just once though).

When you have both obols needed to get Dash, the next step is to visit Albert’s Shipyard to acquire the Mist Cleaner 1000 Boat Improvement.

This upgrade requires these items:

  • 8 Silver Ores
  • 22 Silk Fabrics
  • 8 Bottled Ectoplasms
  • 6 Crystal Glass Sheets
  • 3 Spirit Flowers
  • 3,000 Glims

If you need additional help you can read through our Boat Improvement guide for a full breakdown of where and how to get each item.

After getting the boat upgrade, you’ll be ready to sail towards the island of Greymist Peaks. This is on the north-eastern side of the World Map at (X: 216, Y: 96).

Note: Before going to this island, make sure you’ve already unlocked these prior abilities:

Finding the Dash Ability Shrine

Once on the island, you’ll find that the ability shrine is trickier to find than previous ones. Here’s how to make sure you don’t get lost:

Step 1: From the starting point on the island, head left past the Raccoon Shop and jump on the islets until you find a big geyser.

Step 2: Use the updraft from the geyser to glide up in the air until you reach the right cliffside with the tent and spirit.

Step 3 (Optional): This step is optional, but if you are only able to glide to the lower left cliffside, there’s a zipline there which you can use to reach the right cliffside.

Either way you want to end up on the right-hand cliffside.

Step 4: Once on the right cliffside, jump on top of the tent and bounce up until you reach maximum height. Then slowly glide towards the left until you find a small platform. The geyser updraft can also carry you towards it.

Step 10: Finally, bounce on the tent to reach the topmost cliffside. From here, simply walk left to reveal the hidden Ability Shrine where you can get the Dash ability.

How Dash Works

Dash launches Stella forward into the air / Spiritfarer
Dash launches Stella forward into the air.

You can use Dash by pressing the ZL/shoulder buttons on your controller (or by pressing Shift on PC) and then pressing whichever direction you want to go. This throws Stella forward and offers a boost while running (or in mid-air).

But after using Dash you will need to wait for the Everglow to regain its light before you can dash again.

The Dash ability is especially useful if Glide doesn’t get you far enough to reach a spot.

Of course, you can also use Dash just to run faster if you’re in a hurry or need to get somewhere quicker.

Additionally, you can also use Dash to find the hidden shrine of Greymist Peaks.
